Title: "New ads promote tourism along the Gulf Coast" BP begins its payback Post by: Chechem on December 01, 2011, 05:25:26 AM Here is the article (with imbedded ads) explaining that BP wants "to promote tourism along the Gulf Coast as part of its ongoing commitment to the region". :eyeroll:
God bless BP for their help with the recovery. :-X http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9039335&contentId=7072076 (http://media.treehugger.com/assets/images/2011/10/burning-oil-rig-explosion-fire-photo12.jpg) Title: Re: "New ads promote tourism along the Gulf Coast" BP begins its payback Post by: BAMAWV on December 01, 2011, 05:32:55 AM Here is the article (with imbedded ads) explaining that BP wants "to promote tourism along the Gulf Coast as part of its ongoing commitment to the region". :eyeroll: Call your congressman--"Drill Here-Drill Now!"God bless BP for their help with the recovery. :-X http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9039335&contentId=7072076 (http://media.treehugger.com/assets/images/2011/10/burning-oil-rig-explosion-fire-photo12.jpg) Title: Re: "New ads promote tourism along the Gulf Coast" BP begins its payback Post by: Chechem on December 01, 2011, 06:15:01 AM Smitty should enjoy the ads that show beaches, food, and bikinis. I guess he's still planning to relocate. Smitty? Puppy update?

I guess he's still planning to relocate. Smitty? Puppy update? I thought he was moving down there to work. Well all that doesn't seem that hard. He had to eat the puppies. :(Title: Re: "New ads promote tourism along the Gulf Coast" BP begins its payback Post by: MLB10 on December 01, 2011, 08:06:50 AM I saw those this morning and cried a little. :'( In my defense they were preceeded by the Hallmark military-dad-gets-recorded-storybook commercial so I was primed and raring to go. Hormones suck...and no, I'm not pregnant.

And, that's exactly what they did. Guess they had no choice considering some of the workers were missing. And I doubt they could cap it without putting out the fire and trying to stabilize the floating platform (which sank anyhow). Title: Re: "New ads promote tourism along the Gulf Coast" BP begins its payback Post by: rueben on December 01, 2011, 10:03:59 AM There was no saving the missing workers. And they should have had everything ready to got to cap that well, then put the fire out. One of the best stratagey classes I ever attended taught this:
"What would happen if I did absolutely nothing?" Many times dealing with a HAZMAT indecent ( with fire involved) this is the best thing to do. Like a damaged tanker car with a flammable product that is burning. If you put the fire out you have to deal with the run off. If the fire has no potential to damage anything else, let it burn. I realize that an oil rig is very different (with an endless supply of product) but the strategies and tactics to deal with the run off should have been fully in place before extinguishing the fire. There should have been crew boats, research vessels, equipment barges etc in place and sitting on "G" waiting on "O". I'm sure they didn't anticipate it sinking unless they couldn't put out the fire.
