Title: "It’s all on McCarron this time around"
Post by: Chechem on November 24, 2011, 05:17:11 AM
Quote
TUSCALOOSA — Just 51 seconds and 81 yards separated AJ McCarron from immortality.

Thrust into his first Iron Bowl a year ago by Greg McElroy’s head-spinning concussion, the Alabama redshirt freshman had to grow up fast.

Four incomplete passes later, McCarron and the Tide watched Auburn take a knee on a 28-27 win that will certainly play a factor when the rivals reunite at 2:30 p.m., Saturday.

Now a sophomore, 11 starts into his third season, a matured McCarron leads No. 2 Alabama (10-1, 6-1 SEC) into a BCS knockout game with Auburn (7-4, 4-3).

I think AJ had a wakeup call against LSU, let's see how much more mature he will look Saturday against Auburn. The LSU game is the only game that I thought he played like a freshman butwhy not, LSU is a good football team.

I think he hits his stride in the 2nd half after trying to find his legs in the first half. Those Lee County freaks will be going crazy until the Tide shuts 'em up and I think he will be a little nervous at first.

If Bama can run the ball with success, McCarron with have a fun day beating the Tigers.  ;)

I do too, J. But my guess is the boogers will stack the box like everyone else and it may be tough going at first. I hope I'm wrong. I hope we have our way with them, but Auburn always come out fired up against us at JHS.

They can put all 11 in the box, it won't matter.  The more people they put in there, the more people NHTWTR will run over and/or drag on his way to the end zone.  I will bet our defense scores more points than they do.  They will long for 2008 when this game is over.

I was just contemplating whether I should change my pick.  I guess I am just too full of Alabama.  If I had been on the sidelines last year I would have run out on the field and tackled that guy myself when Baron's shoulder was hurt and he couldn't raise his arm to intercept the ball.

The closer it gets to game time, the more likely I am to go back and change it to 98.  I have 49-0 right now, but I am really starting to get fired up.
