Title: Goodbye my friend, Kuiyam
Post by: Jamos on November 12, 2011, 07:17:06 PM
Tomorrow I will say goodbye to forum member and my good friend Kuiyam, most of us know him as Jessie's dad. He and his family's visit to Tuscaloosa will end tomorrow and I will say, I am saddened to see them go. I've only known them for a short period of time and I only wish that I had met them when they first arrived in Tuscaloosa. My next wish would be that all of you on the forum could have a chance to meet them as well, you would enjoy them as I have.

My first meetimg of Kuiyam in person was at the LSU game last Saturday and it was very funny at how it happened. He called me when he arrived at the stadium area so we planned to meet outside the Rammer Jammer, he said there would be four of them. Now I've never met Kuiyam, he's from Australia and just who am I looking for. When we arrived on the corner of the Rammer Jammer there were not four people together in sight so I tried to call him and I couldn't get a phone access. My friend that came along asked me his name and said he would go inside and ask out loud if there was anyone in there by that name. So as I gave my friend his name, there was this gentleman standing about two feet from me and he said, 'that's my name". Needless to say, we really got a good laugh out of that. Before we left each other we planned to get together this week and do something together, maybe play some golf.

I called Kuiyam on Monday and asked if he would care to play some golf and he said he didn't have any clubs so he didn't know if he could, I just happened to have a spare set so we planned to play the next day, Tuesday. I contacted one of our forum members, 2stater, and asked if he would care to join us and he said yes and drove up the next day.

Tuesday was a beautiful day and a friend of mine joined us to make it a foursome, it was one my most enjoyable days of playing golf. To hear Kuiyam with his Australian brogue addressing his golf game was a hoot and you know, he's not a bad golfer. The only problem with that day was, it just ended too soon.

I can tell all of you that they love Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama, their only wish is that they wish Australia was a little closer. Hopefully they will get to come again, at least everyone won't be a stranger to them.

I want to thank another forum member as well, BAMAWV, it was his idea for me to contact Kuiyam and see if we could do some things together, and I'm so glad he did.

Have a safe trip home Kuiyam and family and in our southern way of saying come back to see us, ya'll come back now, ya hear.  :D

Isn't that a great story. My hat goes off to Jamos for the hospitality. But also here is to Kuiyam for having the nerve to just show up to meet someone from the internet. This is a cool story all around.

Roll Tide!

Great story, Jamos.  Glad you got to show him a little southern hospitality and glad Kuiyam got to see Bryant Denny, and most importantly, see his son playing well.  Jesse has really transformed his game since he got here.  If we'd had him for 4 years he'd be All-SEC at this point.

Now,--wake his azz up (international flight) from his nap and find out how the bouncing baby boy (JW) is doing today!

He's sore but thinks everything is ok

By the way there is a great picture of Jessie making a hit on the QB in the Tuscaloosa news today, picture perfect technique. I wish I knew how to find it on the internet and post it on here. I gave Kuiyam the newspaper this morning to take with him.

J, I want to thank you for inviting me. That was one of the most fun rounds of golf I've ever played. It was a pleasure to share the cart with Kuiyam. What a great guy. I think he was just being nice by letting me win.  ;D

They'll probably sleep for 3 days. They've got to be exhausted.

Didn't they just spend a month lazing around the hotel pool? Did Jamos make them kill their own food? Con Air seemed like an exhaustive flight. SIAP
