Title: Miles gets more respect?
Post by: cbbama99 on November 07, 2011, 08:50:16 PM
Going home from work this evening, I was listening to the afternoon sports talk show here in Mobile. The two guys doing the show (for those of y'all down here, you would know Pat Greenwood and Randy Kennedy) started talking about how marvelous a coach Lester is and how has proven in this past game and others that he is not a buffoon. Kennedy then says something to effect that all the jokes about Miles should stop now. My response? Why? He wins games, great. That still doesn't keep him from being an idiot. Nowhere does it say that sanity equals coaching ability. Les may be a good coach, but he is STILL a buffoon. What say y'all?

I say he is a buffoon who is very gracious in victory.  He does a great job relating to his players and getting them up for big games, but you can't deny the numerous strategy/clock management screw ups he has made.

I agree.  I thought his remarks on the sideline after the game were (surprisingly) gracious and classy. I believe he said something like: "I'd be honored to play that team again". So, for that at least, hats off to The Hat.

I thought Les Miles was living off CNS recruits for several years. He has proven he can win with his own players. He has a top five program, he must be doing something right. I don't like losing to him but I find it hard to dislike him. I think he handles himself very professionally while being a buffoon at the same time.

There are a lot worse coaches out there than Les Miles.  Sure he is lacking in some of the details, but he recruits well, relates well to his players, and always does well in the big games.

He already had respect, and in my opinion there is probably 3 coaches who could turn  Ole Miss around and he would be one of them. RTR!
