Title: Political Topic. Please leave up for a few minutes....Please
Post by: navychief on March 16, 2011, 07:06:22 PM
I have a Teleconference scheduled with my Congressman in 2 minutes.  Are there any questions or topics that you would like me to ask or bring up?

I know this is off topic, but relative to life in general.  I dont mind it being destroyed, but please leave up momentarily.

Sorry it is late advice, but if the opportunity arises again, do what I always tell my Soldiers.

My personal philosophy:  Never talk of events outside of your real area of concern, but never be afraid to tell them when those areas which are are f-ed up. (translates to stick to issues within your pay grade and area of responsibility)

It will all be in one ear and out the other for the most part anyway, so don't waste the opportunity talking about strategic implications of foreign policy in Iraq when the issue that truly affect you are non-serviceable or useless equipment and/or facilities that truly impact your men's daily lives.

Just my two cents.

But, what did you ask out of curiosity and who was the CODEL on the visit.

Don't we all.

Did you serve in the Regiment or just like the slogan?

Cool.  I'm a cav recon guy myself by MOS.  But, oddly enough, I've spent the majority of my time in and around JSOC and ABN IN assignments.  I had a rare opportunity to work for Regiment prior to my current assignment, but declined a glorified staff position to enjoy a virtual hands-off gig in lovely South America (accompanied tour to boot).

I figure I have a few more years to try and show some young Hooahs that I'm still as hard as I was when they first pinned that little tab on my shoulder, but after 3+ years of deployments worldwide and anothe almost 2+ of simply sleeping away from my own bed due to normal circumstances (training, TDY, etc.), I figured 2+ years of solid family time was the better option.

There is no better family than the Army and fellow paratroopers and rangers will always have a soft place in my heart.  Thanks for your service.

Always standing by to help if I can...not just lip service, for the record.

Nothin like the All Americans, I commanded a recon troop in the 2-325.  Division has its "uniqueness," but there are still few places like it.
