Everything is relative, of course. Alabama is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the other three key defensive categories: scoring defense (7 points per game), total defense (184.14 yards per game) and rushing defense (38.14).

The Tide has allowed 146 yards passing per game. In a 52-7 victory Saturday, it held Ole Miss to 141 yards. A week ago, Alabama ranked No. 4 in passing defense (151.5).

Alabama moved up eight spots to No. 14 in the nation in scoring offense (39.71 ppg) and five spots to No. 12 in the nation in rushing offense (241.57 yards per game). It ranks No. 24 in total offense (460.57) and No. 72 in passing offense (219).

Coach Bryant's 1961 NC team allowed only 25 points the entire season, shutting out six opponents.

Alabama's D is allowing just 10.4 first downs a game, the best mark in the nation and more than one FD less than 2009 after 7 games (11.6).

All this is being done against an SEC, that while it may be a little top heavy this year, still rules the nation:

Alabama has won its past seven nonconference games against other automatic qualifiers. LSU has won five straight. Auburn had a streak of four straight snapped at Clemson this year, and Florida had taken six in a row before falling in Tallahassee last year.

Strong.

It used to be the NC came from around the nation.
Then from the SEC.
Now from our state. How would it be to have three straight years of the NC and Heisman winner coming from Sweet Home Alabama?

Can't change last year.  I am pretty sure which team from Alabama will do it this year.
