Title: Alabama Football: When SEC goes to nine games, top games will be lost

I wonder others think about a 9 game schedule. I think that soon it would ruin the games we have now that really pump up a Saturday afternoon. Like Tenn, or possibly auburn moving around on the schedule. RTR!

A fact of life:  Time passes; things change.  SEC will have more members than ever and will have to figure out what makes sense for the conf as a whole.  I think it's inevitable that some rivalry games like Bama-Tenn will not be played each year.  But to me, Bama-UTX is just as big a game, so I'm OK with not playing Tenn every year.

I think SEC will try to keep in-state rivalry games as the last games of the season.  That works  when both teams are SEC members like Bama-Barn, MSU-Ole Miss, and even aTm-UTX if that restarts (which I hope it will.) But for rivalries where the "other" team is non-conf, like UGA-Ga Tech or USC-Clemson, those games may have to move away from end-of-season.  That's the price of expansion.

There probably will be fewer out-of-conf Power 5 games like Bama-Wisc, but those will be replaced by more playoff games of the same caliber. (This will make the season longer & harder on the players.)  Overall, I think all this will be exciting.  Different, but exciting.

Just MHO.

Just MHO.

Beginning in 2025 Bama will play two Power 5 opponents in addition to the SEC schedule.

So this will be 11 power 5 opponents. Makes for a hefty schedule. RTR!

Point noted pmull.  But I just wonder if this will hold as it.  I think all these games were scheduled before the number of playoff games were expanded, and before SEC started talking about 9-comf games per year.   We could end up playing some of these OOC teams twice in a season.  (Of course we could end up playing some SEC teams twice in a season.  That's happened before.) Much to consider....
