Title: I was bored so I did some research:
Post by: hscoach on December 04, 2022, 12:22:51 PM
I looked back and check on how many touchdowns Bama gave up this year and how many were penalty aided.  Here is what I found.
Utah State   no touchdowns
Texas          1 touchdown  on that drive there was a roughing the passer and a personal foul
UL Monroe    1 touchdown   no penalty on that TD drive
Vandy           no touchdowns
Ark               3 touchdowns   a substitution infraction on one TD drive
Tex A&M        2 touchdowns   no penalties on those drives
Tenn              7 touchdowns   2 TD drives aided by penalties all PI and 2 PI on one drive
Miss State      1 touchdown    2 PIs on that drive
LSU               4 touchdowns   2 drives had PI calls
OM                3 touchdowns   1 facemask call
Austin P         no touchdowns
AU                3 touchdowns    1 PI called

In total 25 touchdowns and 9 were penalty aided which is 36%.   Also, UT scored  28% of the touchdowns against Bama.

I decided to look at Field goals also.

Tx       3 field goals  1st offsides, 2nd, personal foul, 3rd  personal foul and offsides
Vandy  1 field goal no penalties
Ark      2 field goals 1st personal foul 2nd PI and face mask
Tx A&M 1 field goal  face mask
Tenn      1 field goal no penalties
LSU      1 field goal  PI
OM        1 field goal  no penalty
AU       2 field goals 1st face mask and offsides 2nd Illegal participation

12 total field goals and penalties on 10 of them.  83%.
Total scoring drives with field goals and touchdowns, 37 scoring drives and 51% were penalty aided.

:o :o :o this amazing stats hscoach thanks for doing this. One thing I don't understand we use to have a great 4th Qtr program. What ever happened to it? What happen to killer attitude we use to have? Has CNS gone soft? RTR!

They still have the 4th quarter program.  I just think we got some players this year that are not as disciplined as in the past.  Also, some of those penalties are bad luck like when a player ducks his head and his face mask is grabbed.  I would really like to see who has the most penalties on the team.  I think it would be between a defensive back and and outside backer.

Thanks coach.  Interesting stuff.  And revealing.

This will be the first time, since the CFP started, that the national champion has not been Bama, or a team that beat Bama at some point in the season.  Until now, the road has gone through Bama.

Penalties indeed did us in this year. Let's hope next year we see a more disciplined team.

We need discipline and if they leave then let them leave. If they don't bleed crimson we don't need them. RTR!
