Title: UPDATES ON BRYCE'S INJURED SHOULDER
Post by: Chechem on October 02, 2022, 07:01:43 AM
Saban's post-game comments:

“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder. We’ll have to take it day-to-day. I think he’s OK. He doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in the game today because I didn’t think he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before, and in a few days, he starts to respond pretty well, so we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day-to-day.”

Hope Saban is right.  Might not need Bryce for A&M but definitely need him back soon.  ROPLL TIDE!!!

I agree, but I'm not overlooking A&M.  The Aggies did the same thing last year (lost early games), then played well and beat us.

And there's been bad blood between Saban and Jimbo.  We need to make their azzes quit!

The stadium should be quite raucous this week with it being the first big home game of the year, a night game, and the off season beef with Jimbo.

I hope we can win the aTm game without Bryce playing, or playing sparingly. We need him fully healthy for UTenn.

If Milroe practices with he 1's this week, he'll be better.  BoB (aka BooB) needs to design pass plays that fit his skills.

Our D is better than last year and aTm's QB situation is a mess. Our OL is better than last year though it still needs to improve.

Bummer... Two weeks means he'll miss the UTenn game.  That was gonna be a tough game already.  If we're without Bryce.....

Open week follows UTenn so after that hope he'll be in good shape

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully, Milroe practicing with the ones will have him ready.

From what I saw Saturday I think he will be as good as Bryce. His legs will make him even more dangerous. RTR!

Greg McElroy (Tuesday):

“We all know Bryce has an NFL future. We all know Bryce is gonna make a lot of money playing college football, we also know Bryce is gonna make a lot of money playing NFL football,” McElroy said on Always College Football. “If I was advising him, the question and conversation that you have to have is; one, can it get worse by me playing? That’s the big thing because if it can, then you have to measure what’s the likelihood of it getting worse and if it does get worse, what’re the long-term ramifications of having an injured throwing shoulder.”

I doubt seriously that anyone will be able to keep that kid off the field when he feels he's ready.

Before Saturday's game, I was watching a playback of the Vandy game. When Milroe was in, a few times the announcers commented on him making the correct reads and adjusting the play when he read the defense. I find that encouraging.

Wednesday:

Alabama still faces uncertainty behind center heading into Saturday’s game against Texas A&M. During his appearance on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference, Nick Saban provided the latest on Bryce Young, stating the quarterback is still considered “day-to-day” after leaving last weekend’s win over Arkansas with a shoulder injury.

He’s doing some things in practice,” Saban said. “He’s still listed as day-to-day, and no decision is going to be made until he decides and we decide from a medical staff standpoint whether he can go out there and functionally do his job.”

Bryce has to be completely ready at 99 to 100% I would think. He will be pulled quickly if he can't go. We have the best back-up in the nation. RTR!

Thursday Oct 6th:

No time was wasted on Nick Saban’s weekly radio show as the topic of the week was addressed right from the start.

How’s Bryce Young?

“There’s no real bad damage or anything like that so it’s not a long-term thing,” Saban said. “But he still has some soreness and we’ll have to make a game-time decision before the game in pregame to see if he can throw the ball well enough to go out there and do his job. So he has been able to practice some."

“Bryce is a great competitor. He’ll want to go out there and play the best he can but sometimes you have to protect players from themselves because they’ve got to be able to go out and create value for themselves and be healthy enough to do it the right way. He’s a sharp guy. He’ll know whether he’ll be able to go out there and do it.”

Well when Jalen plays a full game it may be like when Hurts and Tua was swapping back and forth. RTR!

That's what worries me.  I saw enough of passes thrown into the ground from Hurts.  Never want that again.

Wednesday October 12:

Alabama head coach Nick Saban ended his opening statement on Wednesday morning’s SEC teleconference by providing the latest update on junior quarterback Bryce Young (shoulder).

“People are gonna ask about Bryce, and there’s really nothing new to tell you,” Saban said. “He’s making progress, he’s been able to practice some and we’ll continue to evaluate him as the week progresses.”

... “He’s made a lot of progress from that point, so hopefully, that will change in the near future.”

Saban added: “Bryce continues to practice a little bit more,” Saban said. “We’ve got him on a little bit of a pitch count just to ween him back into it and see how it goes. We expect him to do a little bit more (Thursday). That’s all I really have to say about that.”

Friday update:

“Bryce has practiced some this week,” Saban said. “I think it comes down to does he feel and do we feel that he can throw the ball effectively enough. He’s not gonna hurt himself doing it. I just don’t know how much it will hurt him if he does it. He’s done it on a limited basis. So that’s the question, and nobody’s gonna know that until Saturday comes. He won’t know, I won’t know it, nobody will know it.

“I know he wants to play, and I know he thinks he can play. And we’ll see, we’ll see.”
