Title: LSU and Alabama gain ground on No. 1 Oklahoma in coaches poll Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on October 02, 2011, 11:52:15 AM http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/10/coaches-poll-oklahoma-alabama-lsu/1
Quote It's getting crowded at the top. Oklahoma retained the No. 1 ranking in the USA TODAY coaches poll, but the Sooners' share of first-place votes is now just a plurality. Following an easy 62-6 romp over Ball State, OU got 27 of 59 No.1 nods to keep the top position by 11 points. But several challengers were just as impressive. LSU, a 35-7 winner against Kentucky, edged SEC rival Alabama for the No. 2 ranking. The Tigers got 21 firsts, one more than last week, and wound up with two more poll points than the Crimson Tide. Alabama was tied for second with LSU and actually added three No. 1 votes to the seven garnered a week ago after a dominant performance at then-No. 12 Florida. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm Oct. 2, 2011 Rank Team (first-place votes) Record Points Last week's poll 1. They moved up 6 or 7 spots depending in which poll.

You could notify the BCS and let them know about it and give them permission to use it as part of the BCS formula. Title: Re: LSU and Alabama gain ground on No. 1 Oklahoma in coaches poll Post by: SUPERCOACH on October 02, 2011, 04:45:58 PM I bet a lot of us watch considerably more college football than the people who vote in the polls. There is no justification for Auburn to be ranked for example. And there is no way Boise should be in the top 5, I don't care if they win all of there games by 40 points. You have to play somebody for it to count.

How neat would it be to get a vote in a poll as part of membership to the forum? How neat would it be to get a vote in a poll as part of membership to the forum? I have thought of that. I was thinking that maybe you need a certain amount of e-cred to vote. Or should we just let everybody vote (if they are registered)? Title: Re: LSU and Alabama gain ground on No. 1 Oklahoma in coaches poll Post by: SUPERCOACH on October 02, 2011, 06:25:26 PM Also, it gets really hard to keep up with 25 teams. Maybe we have a Top 10 instead. What are your thoughts on this?

Title: Re: LSU and Alabama gain ground on No. 1 Oklahoma in coaches poll Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on October 02, 2011, 06:36:52 PM I'd suggest a top 15 maybe. And yes, I like the idea of having to have a certain e-cred level. Something small enough that any semi-regular contributor could still vote though (50?).

I will even do a Crane Works commercial if necessary.

I probably give out more for humor than anything, but I also give them out for just about anything that I think makes the site better. The quickest way to rack up is to make the home page. You automatically get +5 any time a mod puts one of your posts on the front page. Every post you make has the potential to make the front page, so the more you post the more chances you will have. And if it was something you wrote originally (as opposed to an article link with some quotes) I come back through and give another +10 as a bonus for original content. You can also get some for making the top 5 in the Weekly Pickem contest or guessing the closest score in the Pick the Score contest. Title: Re: LSU and Alabama gain ground on No. 1 Oklahoma in coaches poll Post by: SUPERCOACH on October 02, 2011, 08:26:21 PM I just finished the database side of the poll and I am about to work on the pages for entering your votes.
We need to have a deadline for entering your votes. I want to give people time to come by and vote, but I don't want it to be so long that people lose interest in the results by the time we are done. What do you guys think about having the deadline on Sundays at midnight? Is that long enough? I figure most of the people who vote will be by here on Sunday anyway. It may leave the Christians out, but the precedent was set long ago by the Romans (just a joke, just a joke). Most people will remember and return the favor the next time they see you do something good. If you don't know how, all you have to do is click on Applaud underneath someone's E-Cred total just under their screen name to the left of the post. This will increase their count by 1. The bravo smiley does not actually award an E-Cred, it is just a smiley that we use when we tell somebody that we gave them an E-Cred. |
