Post by: Chechem on September 28, 2018, 08:48:21 AM
Post updates here so we can read them AFTER we watch the taped versions.
Thank you, all.

Apparently the USA is ahead 3-1 after the Friday morning contests.

How to get your ass kicked:

1.  Play horrid golf in foursomes at the Ryder Cup, and give the Europeans the win.

2.  Underestimate Nick Saban.

The process by which the USA picks its Ryder Cup team is flawed.  I don't know all the calc's that go into it, but the formula for auto qualifying needs to be revised.  To a large extent the PGA tour rewards good scrambling, but that kind of golf doesn't work on all courses.  Driving accuracy, proximity to the pin on approach shots, and strokes gained putting should count a lot.  Wins alone overlook the kind of "game" that's needed in match play.

Capt's picks need to focus on players that are the best fit with the course where the Cup matches are being played, almost regardless of number of wins on tour.

Just MHO

McB, they kick our a$$ because the Europeans play on both tours. We rarely play a European event. We're easy pickings over there.

Right.  During the broadcast this weekend it was pointed out that all of the players on the Euro team had played in the French Open.  The French Open was held on the same course where the Ryder Cup was held.  I think I understood that only one US player had played the course at all.

Plus, the Ryder Cup was a week after the end of the FedEx finale (last weekend).  Many of the players were exhausted, including some of the Euros.  Just a bad formula for a US win.

I don't want to think about the Ryder Cup.  It was disgraceful.
