Title: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: N.AL-Tider on January 12, 2018, 07:37:42 PM Have any of you heard anything as to why he decided to enter the draft? Rumors are just that but, a friend mentioned to me that Bo was met by a couple of high ranking people within Bama athletics when the team got back in town after winning the NC and pulled his scholarship because of the things that he allegedly was yelling about President Trump before the game started. Again, at this point as far as I am concerned this is all unsubstantiated rumor. I only posted it here in hope that one of you may be able to shed some truth to this topic. If it is true then it is disappointing that his career at Alabama would end like this. However, I would also applaud the University for taking a stand to promote appropriate and mature behavior of our players...

Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 13, 2018, 08:21:11 AM I definitely don't believe that there's anything to that.
For one thing, I don't think what was reported that he said in the tunnel was actually what he said. I know Supercoach and I both watched the video and agree (and Bo also claimed) that he said "Georgia." Even moreso, I don't think any player is going to lose his scholarship over political statements, especially not made in "public." That sounds like the grounds for a lawsuit. Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: 2Stater on January 14, 2018, 07:11:52 AM Could it be academics? :dunno: The article I read said he will graduate in May, so I don't know. Apparently, there is no truth to the rumor though. It's not even true what he allegedly said. Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: pmull on January 14, 2018, 07:15:45 AM Could it be academics? :dunno: In the press conference announcing the juniors that would leave early Saban said he is scheduled to graduate in May. Bo specifically thanked the academic support staff for all their help. Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: pmull on January 14, 2018, 08:53:50 AM I just found this article that talked about Bo getting his degree. Criminal Justice major with an ambition to become a FBI agent. If that happens his time at Alabama was a success whether he ever plays in the NFL or not.
Quote Saban said Scarbrough and safety Ronnie Harrison can graduate in May, and that’s something Scarbrough is adamant about doing. He only has four classes remaining to achieve that. “Oh yeah, for sure,” he said. “I mean no one can take that piece of paper away from me, so of course I’m going to get my degree. That was my whole plan, coming to college and I wanted to major in criminal justice and be an FBI agent, and I’m going to pursue that dream.” Yes, an FBI agent, particularly on the investigation side of things, and not a star in the NFL is something Scarbrough has always envisioned being since his youth. But he has an opportunity to become the latter in the near future, and that’s what he’ll try to do. https://247sports.com/college/alabama/Article/Alabama-Crimson-Tide-Football-Bo-Scarbrough-declares-for-2018-NFL-Draft-despite-not-accomplishing-all-of-his-college-goals-113575342 Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: ricky023 on January 14, 2018, 09:20:51 AM Being an FBI agent is a big deal. I just hope he learns to keep his mouth shut with all those explanations. RTR!

Good to know he has a plan, whether it be the NFL or not. Criminal Justice major with an ambition to become a FBI agent. If that happens his time at Alabama was a success whether he ever plays in the NFL or not. That, IMO, totally debunks the rumor that I mentioned and that is what I was hoping for too. Thanks for doing the research pmull. That could knock him out of the NFL forever. So I can see him thinking...I'm going now and whatever happens in the draft I'll work hard to make a team and live with the outcome.
If he can stay healthy, he's the kind of big RB that can find a role on an NFL team. Good luck to him. That has to be the reason. I doubt he has a 1st or even 2nd round draft grade. When healthy, Bo can be a difference maker, but he does seem to be injured pretty often. If he can stay healthy, he's the kind of big RB that can find a role on an NFL team. Good luck to him. With the year he had this year, I don't think he does any better than 5th round. Probably worse. If he was able to declare last year; different story. I don't think Bo was 100% this year. Will be interesting to see if he passes the physical. He will be closely watched at the Combine. Title: Re: Bo Scarbrough leaving for the draft Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 15, 2018, 09:09:59 AM I read that Phil Savage (who, granted, may err a little on the pro-Bama side at times) said he expected Bo to be a late 2nd/early 3rd round draft pick. He said 4th would be a bad showing.
Bo is a physical freak, so I'd imagine he will be impressive at the NFL combine IF he gets an invitation, is healthy, and trains hard between now and then. If he's healthy, I agree he could. I think he would need to go to the combine and show what he's got, to go that high. |
