Watched the sound bite from his presser. He basically said we needed a close game like this. Went on to say that when you blow teams out 49-0, you're not learning how to respond to adversity.

I sure hope the team responds well.

We're fine at every position but LB. Unreal to lose three starters and the first backup for the season in one position grouping.

We have to keep in mind that Miller and Lewis are expected back for the IB. That will help immensely.

I'm a natural skeptic.  (Guess I lived in NYC too long.)  I'll believe this about Miller & Lewis when I see it.  If they are going to play in IB, they need to get in a few plays vs. Mercer.

No doubt, but we have to be in a better situation with them, even after being out for several weeks.

Glass is definately half full.  I didn't see much of Barn- GA.  Heard good bit on radio in car.  Seemed to me like GA was overwhelmed by the 'big stage' they were playing on.  That won't happen with Bama.  MSU was a good, hostile environment to prep team for Jordan-Hare.  And some of Barn's euphoria from GA will dissipate over next two weeks; but they will be pretty pumped & confident.  And Gus will have some new trick plays.

But injuries are killing us on D and I have doubts about our ability to defend Barn's passing.  OL ain't gonna get much (if any) better and Dabol needs to design plays that enable Jalen to get rid of the ball quicker.  And then Jalen has to do that.

Final thought:  How much does Barn win say about gap between SEC East vs. West?

And neither is Tony Brown. Those 2 things concern me as much as our LB situation.

I think the barn will be favored in this game, and I hope they are. Bama normally plays their best from the #2 ranking, as well as when they are underdogs. I'm hoping that will get what we have left as a team, to rise to the occasion.

They may pull off a miraculous win from time to time, but most of the time we just wipe them on a tissue and flush them down the toilet.

Monday update:

The redshirt junior left guard, who suffered a high ankle sprain against Mississippi State on Saturday, will be out this week against Mercer and will be a "medical decision" for the Auburn game next weekend, Saban said.
