Oklahoma, which held off Missouri 38-28 in Big 12 action, retained 32 first-place votes in the coaches poll after getting 50 of 59 a week ago. Most of the voters who switched gave the No. 1 nod to LSU. The Tigers got 20 No. 1's after a dominant win at then-No. 16 West Virginia. Alabama, just as impressive at home in a 38-14 romp against then-No. 12 Arkansas, claimed the remaining seven No. 1 votes but was second on 34 ballots to keep a share of the No. 2 ranking.
