Oklahoma remained No.1 in the USA TODAY coaches poll Sunday, but Southeastern Conference rivals Alabama and LSU tied for second and began eroding the Sooners' lead.

In the Associated Press news media poll, LSU moved to No. 1. The Tigers were No. 2 in the AP poll last week.

Oklahoma, which held off Missouri 38-28 in Big 12 action, retained 32 first-place votes in the coaches poll after getting 50 of 59 a week ago. Most of the voters who switched gave the No. 1 nod to LSU.

The Tigers got 20 No. 1's after a dominant win at then-No. 16 West Virginia. Alabama, just as impressive at home in a 38-14 romp against then-No. 12 Arkansas, claimed the remaining seven No. 1 votes but was second on 34 ballots to keep a share of the No. 2 ranking.

Maybe the grounds crew will do their fall spraying of the field on the Friday before the game.  :)
