Title: Barn Fans Depressed, Jumping Ship Already Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 25, 2011, 10:19:45 AM A taste of what their boards look like after struggling against mighty Florida Atlantic.
[/cGood Evening to Everyone in War Eagle Nation. This is my first post of the year about our Tigers. I support the team 100% but believe the following observations are to be true. What say you.....? 1) Our defensive looks very slow. Limited pressure on QB. Short passes gain far too many yards because we don't have a second defender in the area or the first tackle is too often missed. If our coaches don't change things soon I believe our opponents may set an all time 3rd down efficiency record at the end of the year and this won't reflect well on our record. 2) Nobody expected Trotter to be Cam. However, I do not believe he is an SEC caliber QB. Either that our our WR can't get any separation from the defenders, which is something the TV camera doesn't show. Too many times Trotter is holding the ball way too long so either its the WR fault or he is just afraid of throwing the ball into a situation where the WR has some separation. I too would like to see Frazier get more snaps and throw the ball once in a while. 3) I believe the "shine" of Gus has worn off. The play calling is nothing like the hype that accompanies his reputation. That, or he has no confidence in the talent on the field to run the offense that he is/was known for. I watch a ton of college football and there are so many other teams that have an offense that looks like it actually confuses the defense. Our offense looks timid. Too many passes to the safety valve especially when we need 8 or more yards and the sucess of these plays is and has been very low. 4) I'm not a pessimist, far from it. But the reality is that the SEC is a tough place to play and there are a bunch of teams with strong QB's and even stronger defenses ahead on our conference schedule. Sure glad that I can still enjoy the season we had last year. Although I am concerned that Bama looks too strong this year. That's my take. What say you guys? olor] Yeah, im startin to think Gus has checked out on Auburn and is looking toward his first HC job. Thats all i can think of. When Dyer's tearing up the field, and your WRs are making GREAT plays and getting into open spaces, yet you choose to throw screens and wrap around handoffs that dont work, something's up. Sorry, wish I could but whatever hope I had of a "sure 6 games or better" went completely out the window last nite. We need to be honest with ourselves and realistically expect one sure win (Samford) and 2 upsets to get to 6. Best case 6-6, worst case 4-8. To be honest, if these coaches don't improve drastically on both sides of the ball, I don't care to watch us in a bowl game--too painful. [Ole Miss is not very good, beat Samford and you have 5. Now we have to upset either USC, Arkie, Florida or UGA. That is clearly possible and I am staying with 7-5 until proven wrong. BTW, I am not giving up on the IB. I give us no chance against LSU. /color] That is just a small sampling of their despair and misery. :popcorn2: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=6&f=1010 Title: Re: Barn Fans Depressed, Jumping Ship Already Post by: pmull on September 25, 2011, 10:30:01 AM The month of October does not look good for the boogers. Here is a look at their schedule:
@ USCe @ Arkansas Florida @ LSU Ole Miss If they are lucky they go 1-4 in October. November: @ Georgia Samford ALABAMA Getting to a bowl game will be tough. Title: Re: Barn Fans Depressed, Jumping Ship Already Post by: pmull on September 25, 2011, 11:35:32 AM We stink this year. All we can do is try and get better every week, and hope it pays off for next year.
Lattimore may break the one game rushing record next week. There may be 2 more wins for Auburn...Ole Miss and Samford and that's all folks! What concerns me is that next year, other than some good incoming freshmen, we are basically fielding the same team. Title: Re: Barn Fans Depressed, Jumping Ship Already Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 25, 2011, 12:00:06 PM It's obvious that DC Roof is dead man walking and will be fired. Other defensive coaches will probably follow. So, if Malzahn can still find a job, he's gone, which means the boogers will still have major issues next year. What I expect is ahbarn will now schedule the 4 biggest cupcakes the y can so they can coast with 4 easy victories and hope to win 2-4 SEC games. I can see UAB, Tulane, and Memphis-type teams on the schedule very soon.
