Title: Texas Won't Share Money From Network Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 21, 2011, 09:41:55 PM Looks like there won't be a Big 12 at this rate.
Texas officials said Wednesday they are open to a new revenue-sharing model in the Big 12 and have already suggested that top-level television and cable money be shared equally. But Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds says Texas doesn't want to share the money from its Longhorn Network, a 20-year, $300 million deal with ESPN. http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/Texas-officials-said-they-are-open-to-new-revenue-sharing-model-in-Big-12-092111 Title: Re: Texas Won't Share Money From Network Post by: bamaphil on September 21, 2011, 11:14:10 PM Texas is going to end up as an independent because Oklahoma's not going to put up with their greed and no conference is going to take them at this point.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., and Missouri to make 16 in the SEC? Or do those three and one more go to the PAC since it was Texas' stance on the Longhorn Network that seemed to sink the deal with the PAC12? Title: Re: Texas Won't Share Money From Network Post by: Jamos on September 22, 2011, 06:27:37 AM The conference that has been keeping very quiet is the Big 10 and you have to wonder if some of the Big 12 might want in that conference. Somehow I get the feeling that Oklahoma might look at the Big 10 and again I think Ok State will follow Oklahoma whereever they may go if it is at all possible. JMO

Oklahoma State? No way. The snooty folks at the Big 10, who strut their academic side like a peacock, would never go for inclusion of the Land-grant ("redneck") Okies. Money ain't everything. There is no doubt that the Big 10 likes themselves very much but their image has really fallen in the past few years and somewhere along the line they will have to eat their pride to be competitive with the other conferences that are forming. I wonder how the Big 10 feels about the new basketball conference that just formed, some more of their glory gone. I wonder how the Big 10 feels about the new basketball conference that just formed, some more of their glory gone. Their image is indeed tainted. But that won't stop them from using "academics" as an excuse to exclude OSU. And I doubt Oklahoma cares if OSU follows them. |
