Rules experts weigh in on Clemson's 2 late TDs against Alabama" Post by: SUPERCOACH on January 10, 2017, 02:05:06 PM Quote "What the officials are looking for is who initiates the contact," Redding told the AP. "If the receiver comes out and clearly blocks on the defender and the other receiver cuts off that block, then it's offensive pass interference. What we saw was the contact was either initiated by the defense or mutually initiated. It wasn't a play where the offensive player clearly came out and blocked on them." Let the talking heads have this discussion. As fans, we look like the Clemson losers last year arguing about the onside kick. Some of those guys insisted the ball didn't go 10 yards, when in fact it was just shy of 15. :lol2: Of course there is nothing wrong with trying to get a better understanding of the rule and why it was called on Notre Dame but not Clemson. In fact we are obligated to do so in order to be better prepared to stop it. But I would not go so far as to say this was the reason we lost the game (even it that turns out to be factually correct). I mean honestly the Head Ref is going to agree with his people it is going to all be legal whether it was or not. As somebody said we are Alabama and they are going to take everything from us they can we know that fact going in every game. We are hated by the most purest sect of people because are Champions and we set the standard so high nobody can reach it. Look at a team like lsu, ole miss, msu, or tenrc, or kentucky, if they beat us it is as if they just won the whole world. Whatever it takes to beat Alabama we will do it. Well we are Alabama and we will be back next but auburn and clemson and tosu won't be. They have to beg and escape to get in the CFP but we win our way in. Here goes another 26 winning streak. God Bless AMERICA and GOD BLESS ALABAMA. RTR!

It doesn't matter as far as this game is concerned, but trust me, this is going to come up again. Just like the linemen down field on pass plays. We need to get the rule clarified and consistently called and then figure out how to stop it. And if it is a legal play we need to be doing it ourselves.
