Title: Kiffin gone
Post by: 2Stater on January 02, 2017, 11:18:43 AM
Saban on College Game Day says Kiff is gone and Sark is now the OC.

There will be lots of hair tearing and tooth gnashing and, in the end, all will be well.  ROLL TIDE!!!

I agree. It already started on Gameday. Herbie called Reese a smart ass.  :lol2:

Finebaum thinks it's the apocalypse.

Too much clutter involved with coaching two schools. We already have his replacement in house so why wait. Thanks for the memories and the 40-3 record during your stay in T-Town.

I saw it on ESPN too.  Saban looked tired.

No real surprise after the Washington game.  Not a well called offensive game for Bama.

It's hard to do two jobs.  ESPN noted that while Kirby did well against Michigan State, there were lingering questions after last year's Clemson game.

Best that Saban makes the change now.

Bring on the Sarknado.

There had to be some BAAAAD stuff going on for CNS to make an OC change a week before the NC game.  IMHO, this explains a lot of the O's lethargic play calling vs. Wash.

Sark can change the mix of plays but he can't put in much new.  Maybe 1 or 2 new wrinkles that could help in key situations.

I think the team will close ranks and rally.  But Jalen has got to do a better job throwing the ball, and OL has got to play lots better, or we have NO chance...(unless Clemson just lays an egg...)

I was wondering and asking this question right here onCRS back a few weeks ago. I am glad he done us a great job and I hope he has a great team where he goes till he has to play us. Sark is ready if ever so it is time for him to quit picking his nose and call the plays. Get reamed a few times on the sidelines from CNS and all will be well. RTR!

Sounds like Kiff's behavior in Atlanta pushed some of the staff over the edge with him.  CNS had to take action.

I really hoped he would leave on "good" terms , maybe he did , maybe not ...

Listening to the Kiffin interview on Finebaum maybe I understand the offensive struggles against Washington.  Kiffin said he felt like he maybe wasn't "all there".  I initially put it up to rustiness from the long layoff.  But Kiffin seemed to be saying maybe it was on him.

It's done; move on.  Lots of baggage following Kiffin around these days, and the time finally came.

Thanks for the work, Joe.  Good luck.

ROLL TIDE

I went to bed before Saban was on, but Dabo also looked tired. I can't imagine the stress of preparing a team for a national championship game in one week.

At this time of year all coaches are tired.  Even in high school, especially in Tx, people don't realize what a mental and physical stain it is.  I know when the season was over, I would be sitting on the couch and look up and there would be a new program on TV.  It took about a week to catch up and rest.

I like this move.  I think it gives us the best chance to win.

Agree. Now we can 100% focus on Clemson.  Just hope Sark can quickly find some short-to-mid length pass plays that work for Jalen.

I'm sure those plays are in the playbook. Plus, Sarkisian is familiar with the offense.

This ^  Plus, if Clemson does beat us Monday night we have an excuse already built in...  8)

Good points, coach.  Got to be exhausting for Coach Saban about now, especially if the rumors about Kiffin's screwups before and after the Peach Bowl are true.  Sounds like Saban had enough of it.

A win over Clemson will be just the ticket for Coach Saban.  Then he can smile and relax (briefly).

Saban looked exhausted at his presser.

I agree with SC, this move gives Bama its best chance to win.

So now Kiffin says he wants to assume the Sark role in the press box.  I think he just needs to move on and cease being a distraction.

He should have thought about that before he got too big for his britches (if that is what happened)...
