Title: Minnesota Football Players Threaten Boycott
Post by: Marshal Dillon on December 15, 2016, 10:13:18 PM
The head coach tweeted his support for the players. He should be fired. Here we go again, Missouri all over again. This time, who is in charge, the adults or the 21 year olds? They want the President and AD "disciplined", too.

Minnesota football players have threatened to boycott all football activity, which could include the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27 against Washington State, following the suspension of 10 of their teammates.

Either follow the rules/decisions made by those in authority or lose your scholarships.  Ya can't let the inmates run the asylum...

One accusation and everyone is guilty. That's the way it works, boys.

The truth is kept from everyone not in the administration. I may need to change my pick.

Boy glad I picked the Pirate coach. Hey it is a certain thing that players run the schools now. RTR!

I don't agree with how the players are protesting, but I'll reserve judgement of guilt or innocence until this all plays out. Can you say "Duke Lacrosse"? Not saying that is what the situation is here, but it could be. On the other hand, it could be another Baylor, Tn, ND, Jameis Winston (pick one) situation.

I'll wait until all the facts are in.

I agree.  My point was that schools can not allow the student athletes to dictate what they will or will not do especially when it directly involves their participation in the sport that is paying for their education.  If they don't want to play then that's fine.  They simply lose their scholarship, must repay the costs for such for the current semester and CAN NOT transfer with eligibility IMO...

I don't know the specifics, but I kind of doubt the administration would suspend 10 players without cause. I have a feeling that, like Mizzou, the administration will cave in to the players' demands to avoid short-term financial loss. The result will embolden more teams around the country to threaten boycotts any time they don't get exactly what they want.

No, I'm not arguing with you there. I agree. I'm just saying there are those that are quick to judge without knowing all the facts, and that I'll reserve my judgement until all is said and done.

It's Minnesota.  I seriously doubt their athletic program is in the black anyways... :dunno:

After the fiasco at the University of Missouri, they have seen a significant drop in enrollment and at least a $30 mil dollar loss in money. Personally, I love it. The spineless libs (professors & admins) are paying for their tolerance, understanding, & warm fuzzy feelings.

Quote
The University of Missouri is seeing a sharp decline in enrollment even as other universities in Missouri report a spike. Enrollment was expected to drop at Mizzou after last fall’s racial uprising, but preliminary numbers released by the school at the start of the fall term are even worse than anticipated and the ensuing financial shortfall has led the school to propose major cuts to the budget.

If Minnesota boycotts would anyone notice?  :dunno:

I do remember seeing them on TV about 7 or 8 years ago. They have not been relevant in my lifetime.

Good for the Administration. What an idiot Claeys is. Did he forget who paid his salary? Plus, showing support for players suspended for possible rape. Are you kidding me? No college AD will be in a hurry to hire him.
