Why do I feel a twinge of sadness?

Gerne has definitely been around college football for a lot of years.  He has mispronounced countless football players names.  As he signs off of college football announcing for the last time, I was touched by tons and tons of (http://bullgatorslounge.com/images/smilies/sohappy.gif)

If they could just get Todd Blackledge to replace the other half of Gerne then we would have the dream team IMO.

Fowler and Herby are as good as it gets to me. We probably won't see them leaving ESPN any time soon though.

Agreed.
But as long as I can get Eli Gold on the radio, I'll turn down the volume and listen to him during the Bama games.

I would gladly do the same thing if I could correct the timing difference between tv and radio...

I have to admit, I got a little verklempt when Verne gave his farewell speech. You can tell he is going to miss the game, even though it has passed him by. He will, however, continue to be the voice of #16 at Augusta.

I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until I rewatched the 2009 SECCG last weekend. Gary's gotten much worse too. We complained about them back then, but that was solid gold compared we've heard the last few years.

Well sometimes the greatness can over stay. Verne was one of those I believe. Gary is the other because i thought national sportscasters are not suppose to show a prejudice toward one side or the other and both of these guys did that. If Gary wants to be prejudice he ought be calling the Purdue games to me. Brad Nessler will be a great turn around from what we have seen I believe. Just the Keith Jackson he left when it was time, so should all the others I believe. Remember back when, Lindsey Nelson, Curt Gowdy, Chris Economaki, the greats all stepped down when it was time. RTR!
