An outside investigation of the Baylor University sexual violence scandal found 17 women who had reported sexual or domestic assaults involving 19 Baylor University athletes since 2011, university regents have told The Wall Street Journal.

Those included four reports of gang rapes, the Journal reported in a story posted to its website Friday.

Former Baylor coach Art Briles told reporters last summer that he believed he would have a job for the 2017 season.
So far, that has not come to fruition.
Several athletic directors told 247sports.com's Travis Haney that Briles is "untouchable at the moment" after he was fired from Baylor for his alleged role in the school's sexual assault scandal.

I think you're right, he's probably toast for major colleges. What about a place like Youngstown State, North Alabama, Toledo, etc?

Possible, but I kind of doubt it. Giving money to players is one thing, creating a culture of sexual assault is entirely different. If nothing else, and hopefully this wouldn't be the only considerations, any school that hired him would be setting themselves up for a major lawsuit the first time a player was accused of sexual assault.  I don't see it happening.

Former Baylor coach Art Briles and his assistant coaches actively intervened in the discipline of football players, worked to keep their cases under wraps and tried to arrange legal representation for their players, according to a series of emails and text messages released by three university regents in a legal filing Thursday.

The document filed in a Dallas County court was in response to a libel lawsuit that former football director of operations Colin Shillinglaw had filed Tuesday against the school and several members of its senior leadership.

Baylor Football should get the death penalty over this. It won't happen, but it should.

The NCAA is now reportedly looking into aspects of the sexual assault scandal at Baylor.

The report comes after a court filing in a libel case against Baylor officials by a Colin Shillinglaw, formerly the director of football operations under fired coach Art Briles. Baylor officials indicated in the filing that Briles and his staff attempted to hide crimes and misconduct by football players.

Wow MD this is going to get really dirty before it's over. This might even be worse than the Penn State scandal, do you think? RTR!

The only thing worse than 30 years of child molesting is murder. Rape is a VERY close 2nd, maybe dead even.

The difference in my mind is that Sandusky was one guy and they concealed it to avoid damaging the university's reputation, which is awful, and Penn State deserved the penalties they got if not more.

At Baylor though, the coaches and admin created an atmosphere of sexual abuse in order to attract players.  They were basically using a rape culture to recruit talented players.

The program ought to be shut down for at least a few years if not permanently. But the NCAA doesn't have the balls to do it, and the Big XII will prioritize having enough teams over doing the right thing.

I think it depends on what they actually end up proving. Plus, wouldn't it be great if this proud Christian college shut the football program down itself, like SMU did? Also, it would be nice if these women won lawsuits in the range of $200-$300 mil total to really send a loud message.

 :'( :'( there is nothing about this place that is Christian MD. These are thugs playing football and hoodlums being brought in to win games. These are not Christian coaches or leaders of young people.

Baylor fires assistant football coach arrested in prostitution sting

Baylor acknowledged it fired an assistant strength and conditioning coach Monday after he was arrested over the weekend for attempting to solicit a prostitute, according to the Waco Tribune.

The coach, Brandon Washington, came with first-year Baylor coach Matt Rhule from Temple University. He was charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which carries a maximum six months in jail and $2,000 fine in Texas. He was arrested at a hotel as part of a prostitution sting.

Washington was a former player at LSU on its 2003 national championship team and previously worked on the strength and conditioning staff at Alabama and Nicholls State.
