Title: Tide defense's goal: improve on goal line
Post by: pmull on September 14, 2011, 08:21:14 AM
So far this season, Alabama is succeeding with a break-but-don't-bend defense.

The Crimson Tide completely stuffed Kent State's offense and largely stifled Penn State.

But there has been one flaw. In each game, Alabama was tested at the goal line. Both times, the Tide failed the test.

"The best goal-line defense is: Don't give up anything," Alabama coach Nick Saban said.

"What concerns me is not when they get the ball first-and-1 at the 1. Whether we stop them or not, it's how the ... did they get down there?"

I was amazed Penn State got the two extra points. Our whole defense was packed into the end zone but they still made it.
