I'm curious....why does it seem that CNS does not care much about the so-called lack of a kicking game - punts, KO's, FGS, PAT's...we almost never hear him talk about it in his pressers, and we all know the kicking game is lacking, no two ways about it.

I really would like to see our kicker get one at least to the goal line if not in the end zone..hellsbells, it seems he has trouble getting ti to the 15! Other teams, esp one I will not mention, have kickers that can kick the pure dogcrap out of the ball..is BAMA not on the radar of any good kickers? Doe CNS not want to waste a scholly on a kicker?

I dearly hope we will not come up against a team where we have to depend on the punter to win the game for us...it is really pitiful..

And the FG kickers are not any better...we will have to depend on them one of these days!

Makes me wonder WHY CNS does not address this issue...is it not important to him?

Maybe he is not pushing it because the kids are doing all they can, and dwelling may give them mental blocks like with Mackey Sasser.

Mandell certainly isn't booming the ball.  The bright side is there's barely room for return.  We're only giving up 3.22 yds/return.

Short punts is an issue. Foster is kicking the ball high on kickoffs and giving the coverage team time to get downfield. Penn State rarely made it past the 20. Our coverage teams are the best I have seen in years.

Agreed. We'd already had one or two run back by this time last year.

And I think our field goal kicking is pretty good. Not many missed.

Kickers are head cases.  Better not to interact with them much.  Some don't speak English; many don't understand football.  Just hope they show up, and hope they remember how to kick.

 :bf: this reminds me of a kicker. They could probably take some MA(ooopppsss, Martial Arts) practice and it would help. No use though if CNS knows it,  :deadhorse:, I've done it for 3 years bamalum67. RTR!

I am not sure if it is the height of the punt or the shortness that is keeping them from returning.  Less field to cover on a short pun.  My concern is he can' really flip field position.

The punters are kicking different than I've seen them before, they are trying to kick close to the sidelines to minimize the return area. It's amazing how much they can curve the football when they punt it, they punt it out of bounds in the air and curve it back just in the field of play.

This could be part of their problem as to what they are trying to do with the kick, kinda reminds me of a golfer drawing and fading the ball.

Really?  Two issues:

1.  Coach is right.  We need to be able to flip the field.
2.  We've had good coverage and limited their returns to almost nothing.  A punt return can turn the game around (as with Maze vs Penn State).  If we can't flip field position, at least we must not give up a return.  Kicking to the sidelines helps that.  I haven't seen the games in person, and hadn't noticed the "curve" mentioned above.

I think with no Tee the FG kicker has to have his leg strong. I saw Cade putting kicks in the enzone and through in High School and I don't know what happen here.
Cody in my opinion is doing the best he can but if CNS don't get a walkon that really plaster the football Cody is safe for 4 yrs. or what he has left. RTR!

Too me CF looks like he tries to muscle up when he kicks.  Too me kicking is like a golf swing.  When you try to muscle up on a golf swing you don't hit the ball as far.
