BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- SEC Commissioner Mike Slive sounded confident Monday that Texas A&M will join the conference in 2012 and indicated the SEC could play with 13 teams next season.

"When Texas A&M joins our conference, we don't have immediate plans for a 14th member," Slive said in statements released Monday evening on the SEC web site. "We aren't thinking in terms of numbers. We think about the strength of the SEC and the attractiveness of Texas A&M as an institution."

Sounds like a done deal.  I predict the Big 12 explodes, we'll end up with another one of them.  Whatever they came up with last summer obviously failed.

Yep, sounds like the Big 12 is toast.  I'd like to see one of their top teams join the SEC, but it looks like Okie is looking elsewhere, Texas is in love with itself, and Nebraska has converted to full-fledged Yankee.

Would love to get one of their top teams, too, but my guess is we end up with Mizzou.

So, if there are 13 teams, that causes an imbalance.  Would the Aggies be in the West (most likely) or the East.  I would assert that the East would make the most sense for now, only because, with Vandy and Kentucky, they already are short a team.

The scheduling should be interesting.
