Title: Steller defense makes Alabama in conversation for nation's top team Post by: pmull on September 11, 2011, 02:30:21 PM The truth is, the gap between Alabama and nearly every other team in college football—most of the Top 25 included—is large.
You know it. I know it. You better believe every last member of the 107,000-plus crowd at Beaver Stadium knows it. Quote “They trained all offseason for this,” Tide defensive end Jesse Williams told me afterward, “but what they found out was that we trained even harder.” http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2011-09-10/no-3-alabama-vs-no-23-penn-state-nick-saban-joe-paterno-aj-mccarron Title: Re: Steller defense makes Alabama in conversation for nation's top team Post by: Jamos on September 11, 2011, 02:40:39 PM Just wait until the offense gets more consistency and they'll really have a gap to talk about.

I'm not sure other tems will be doing alot of scoring against us. The back 7 is as good as any defense I have seen.

Title: Re: Steller defense makes Alabama in conversation for nation's top team Post by: 2Stater on September 11, 2011, 06:38:52 PM Quote The Tide’s ridiculous defense allowed Penn State to get off to what, around these parts, must be considered a fast start. After receiving the opening kickoff, the Nittany Lions drove—with the speed of a cement truck—54 yards in 16 plays to take a 3-0 lead. They had to know then, after giving their best shot, that they were in for a long day. Me too, but I wasn't surprised. I guarantee you they got an earful about that during practice last week. When the OL needed to come through, they did so in prime fashion. The only thing I saw that caused me any concern was that there were some 3rd & long conversions that PS made. However they were few & far between as the game wore on. |
