Unless Richt wins 9 of his next 10 regular season games, I think he will be let go. Remember when everyone wasa blaming the defensive cordinator? Well, he got rid of him 2 years ago and Georgia still can't play defense. They had a favorable schedule this year, but still blew the first to games. They still play tough games like:

Miss. State
@Tennessee
Florida
Auburn
@Ga. Tech.

That doesn't include surprises from teams like Ole Miss, Vandy, or Kentucky. Richt could be staring at a 7-5, 6-6 season. What's you all's take on this? Just wondering.

I guess a lot will depend on how they do, along with how Boise and USCe finish out.  If Boise plays USCe for the BCS NCG, then he probably stays.  I'm glad my job doesn't depend on Boise playing USCe for the NC.

I think he is done. I have met him a few times and he is a real nice guy. I don't think he can correct that mess.

I'm trying to figure out how he lost the program. Did some key assistants leave over the years, has he become compacent, is the competition better, or what?

When it comes to war, nice guys do finish last. SEC football is war, and CMR lacks the drive and aggression to motivate his team sufficiently to compete with the big boys.

If Richt leaves UGA may make a run at Kirby so I hope Richt survives.  But honestly, he seems unable to find the missing link so he's probably done.  We might ought to think about who will be our next DC.

So true. I am not worried though. CNS will find a replacement. The SEC will be full of Coach Saban's disciples.

I don't know. He's what 34 or 35? That's awfully young for a major program like Georgia, but we shall see.

He's got no mean streak in him...remember Steve Sloan?  Couldn't get it going at Duke or Miss St?  because he too was a nice guy with no mean streak.

Gotta have a little mean streak in you to be a successful coach..MHO.

Is Mark Richt Toast at the End of This Year?

No.  He's toast now.  He may know already (unofficially) that he'll be fired.  I think he'll know officially well before the year's end.

Discipline!! The tail has always wagged the dog as far as player discipline is at Georgia and Richt has paid a big price for it, his job. Other than Florida, I don't know of another program that has had so many off the field problems. It's sad but that was the way he chose to run his program.

Richt may be gone regardless of what UGA does the rest of the year, but UGA could easily finish 9-3 or even 10-2. Good QB, improving running game and favorable schedule point to a turnaround if, big if, they have heart.

  It continues to amaze me that, under Richt, Ga's recruiting class continues to go up, and the team's season ranking continues to go down.

Their schedule is pertty easy the rest of the way, if they can get on a winning streak and beat Auburn it might help his job situation.

I think they are a much better team this year than they were last year.  The teams they lost to were both ranked and pretty good.  The next few weeks will probably determine whether he stays.

Richt's team played hard..they are improving..whether they make it through the rest of the season on a winning note..that's a fifty-two dollar question...

Mike Tomlin won a Super Bowl as the head coach of the Steelers at 35 years old.... I think he would be fine.

MT came in having talent.

uga has talent and can recruit.

Tomlin was given a Super Bowl team built up by Bill Cowher that was LOADED with talent. Kirby Smart won't be inheriting a National Championship team loaded with talent. Huge diffeence.

Gerogia has had 3 top 10 classes the past 4 years and the year they didn't have a top ten they were 15th.... that's loaded with talent.

I agree; UGA is loaded with talent.  They need a General Patton character to take over that job, kick a few butts, and get the troops in order.  They could be very good with good coaching.
