Title: Auburn Football & 5 Star Recruits
Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 02, 2016, 08:14:51 PM
Very interesting.

There's no positive way to spin it no matter how much you bleed orange and blue. Roc Thomas asking for and receiving his release to transfer from Auburn after two less-than-stellar seasons isn't a good look. For him or for Auburn.

Quote
The running back from Oxford was the second of three straight winners of Alabama's Mr. Football award to sign with the Tigers, and so far, none of the three has developed into a breakout star.

Quote
Thomas is also the latest in a parade of five-star recruits who didn't or have yet to develop into five-star producers on the Plains.

Since Gus Malzahn returned as head coach - not counting the 2016 class that has yet to suit up - Auburn has signed and played seven five-star recruits, according to Rivals.com.

Not one of them has earned postseason honors for first-team All-SEC or first-team All-America.

To be fair, they all were pretty good at goat humping.

Might have been their problem; spending too much time on one subject.  :lol2:

OK...laying aside the goat issues.... what I can't decide is [1] would Roc and others have developed into good/great players if they had come to Bama, or, [2] did we dodge a bullet because they didn't come to Bama?

Given this poor track record with 5-stars, why do highly rated players who have other options keep going there?  (And don't say it's the ATM cards...)

Because they were not raised properly and they get the wildcat girls. Then they find out the girls wasn't worth their choice and their heart is not in it. RTR!
