Title: Two homers, 14 strikeouts send Alabama to NCAA softball win
Post by: Jamos on May 20, 2016, 09:47:56 PM
The 3-0 win over Samford was as comfortable as low-scoring games get until the final inning. An error and single brought the tying run to the plate before Crimson Tide pitcher Alexis Osorio finished things off. The last of her 14 strikeouts completed the win.

It was a good win for the ladies but their bats still aren't where they need to be to win another national championship. A couple of good things did happen though with Osorio pitching her best game in quite a while and Demi Turner returning to the team following her near season ending injury.

A good start in the tournament.  And FINALLY Demi is able to play full time.

Demi is not back full time yet. She has not played in the field. She did not start. She game in as a sub for the designated player. Her first at bat she reach on a bunt due to a throwing error. Her second at bat was an infield single. Her speed is still there. They said she has been participating in infield practice so hopefully she is close to coming back.

I was a little concerned there at the end. We had trouble putting Samford away. Osorio pitched really well.

Kallie Case continued to impress me. She is playing well.

Lol! J and I were texting during the game. Up to that point, the camera had not captured him and Mrs J, and I had pointed that out to him. He said he'd make a call. Right after he texted that, they were on camera. I took and sent the pic to him to show that his work paid off.  :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

In the picture, there is a cute little "blondie" sitting just behind my right shoulder that stole the crowd in our area. Her mother is a huge Barn fan but all the she knew was Roll Tide and Go Bama.

She had been having a liitle bit of a problem with the extension of her injured arm that was holding her back from playing in the field and that was a few weeks back. I watched her yesterday to see if she favored the arm any during her play, especially batting, and that didn't seem to be the case but not saying there isn't still a bit of a problem. When she raced toward second and slid in, I wondered what was going through her mind as she neared the base. One thing did happen though on that slide, she slid in feet first rather than her usual slide of head first. I have noticed that most of the ladies are now sliding feet first with an occasional head first slide.
