Title: No. 6 Alabama Softball faces at No. 1 UF (Bama takes game 1; UF game 2) Post by: Jamos on April 01, 2016, 02:26:07 PM There have been in-state deals and others with lingering bad blood. But with Florida, it's a battle for supremacy. The two have combined to win every SEC regular-season title since 2008.

First, Littlejohn accepted her challenge of being the ace pitcher of the team and really pitched a great game. I have to give some credit for that being the off season surgery she had to her foot that seems to have worked very well for her. Also, she lost some weight in the off season that hasn't hurt her any either.
Another reason for the game being so big was Littlejohn need some help in the last inning and Osorio, who has struggled with her pitching this year, came on in relief and did her job masterfully. Sometimes when a player is struggling with their performances, the cure starts with the mental side of things and hopefully this is a big step in getting Alexis back where she once was with her pitching. Third and last for the size of the win for the team is that CPM has somewhat been labeled as a coach that struggles in getting wins against the higher ranked teams. I've never been one of those that believed in that but when you look back at the teams record against the higher ranked foes over the years there is some merit to it. The one game in particular this year was the Oklahoma game earlier that Bama lost in the last inning. After that game I really dreaded the Florida series being it was at Gainesville and the Florida team had gone into Auburn and taken a their series there. There's no doubt that Auburn and Florida have been rated as the two teams to beat in the SEC this year but the win yesterday just put Bama back where they are so used to being, one of the top teams in the country and can win on the road. How big would it be if they win the series with the Gators as far as team morale? ;) Title: Re: No. 6 Alabama Softball faces ultimate test at No. 1 UF (Bama takes game 1) Post by: Chechem on April 02, 2016, 06:35:59 AM This game was huge for the team in more ways than one. The team will need it if they are to make another run. Well done J. RTR!

Florida took a 1-0 lead after 3, but Bama just got a 2-run HR in the 4th (off the pitcher with a muzzle). Dykes got the homer. Bama 2-1. :popcorn2: Title: Re: No. 6 Alabama Softball faces ultimate test at No. 1 UF (Bama takes game 1) Post by: pmull on April 02, 2016, 04:25:40 PM Florida is up 3-2 in the 5th.

Difference was Bama player was thrown out coming home; Florida player slid under the tag and scored. Two very closely matched teams. She has struggled for most of the season but she pitched very well today and with a little luck she would have won the game. Hopefully she is coming out of that shell she has been in and will get back to her old self. #+
