Title: Butch Jones & UT Football in Hot Water, Again
Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 31, 2016, 02:43:59 PM
Jones & UT are going to be killed in Federal Court.

Quote
Tennessee coach Butch Jones responded Wednesday to a Tennessean report that the coach made a “flurry” of phone calls to Volunteer players and police early on Nov. 16, after a woman said she was raped by a pair of Tennessee football players.

Quote
“Regarding the calls to Drae Bowles and his father, I care about Drae as a person and as a player and have frequent communications with players or their parents,” Jones said. “I am very comfortable with everything Drae, Mr. Bowles, and I discussed, and I wish him nothing but the very best. My intent was to support Drae and make sure he was ok.”

More info to help clarify the previous post.

Bowles, who transferred to UT-Chattanooga after the 2014 season, claimed in an affidavit that he was attacked by teammates for helping the woman, a former UT student-athlete. Bowles also claimed that Jones told him he "betrayed the team" by helping her.

Jones denied Bowles' claims again on Wednesday.

This stuff is getting deep. Since when do police "check in" with the football coach BEFORE searching a crime scene.

Quote
Sam Brown, who serves as the Knoxville Police Department’s liaison to the Tennessee football program, contacted Jones at 8:20 a.m. on the day of the rape report. Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch contacted the coach 18 minutes later. Jones and the chief spoke four times throughout the day, with Jones initiating all but the first call.

The calls from Knoxville law enforcement officials to Jones came hours before police searched the apartment where the incident allegedly took place.

This story is now in the national press, and they will not let it go after what happened at FSU.  Gonna be some serious scrutiny of the police's actions too.

Yep, I was listening to him & he thought Butch Jones was full of B.S. and Finebaum was a huge fan of Jones before this. Looks like Dave Hart, AD, will go down with him before it's over. Plus, in Federal Court, everyone will be under oath. Can't wait for the court case.

I have again been fooled by a coach. I really thought Jones would bring some class to UT and probably like CNS make them a contender in the East every year. Now with all this happening Tenn. may never get a good coach. RTR!

Since when does a city police department assign a liason to a university football team?

"Liason to the football team" is just a nice way of saying "probation" officer... It tends to throw people off a bit...  ;)
