Title: Most Boring; Most Exciting Cities in Alabama

Check this out. It shows what you can do with a set of numbers and criteria to skewer stats if you want to.

Boring – like beauty – is in the eye of the beholder.

Keep that in mind as we look at a recent ranking from a website called RoadSnacks. The website ranked Alabama cities from most boring to most exciting. "Boring" towns and cities were those that had: a higher percentage of the population over age 35; a higher percentage of married households; a higher average age; a higher percentage of household with children; a higher percentage of households with people over age 65; and a low population density.

I vacation in the # 1 most boring city in Alabama and I love it.

Scottsboro, #2 on the list, is arguably the most scenic city in the state and my preferred fishing location. I agree there is not much to do there unless you like to fish, golf, hike... you know, fun stuff.

The clown that wrote this article needs to do better research.

#1 boring place destroys the credibility of their whole premise. Lived in boring Trussville for 11 years (#6). Nothing to do with your kids except go carts, bowling alley, water park, putt-putt, batting cages, roller rink, 100 acre Sports Park for youth baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, hiking, biking up & down hills in the woods, 5 or 6 city gyms for basketball, a rec center for Trussville residents which has a BB court, weights, walking track, & a country club golf course. They also have the most expensive high school in the state & are building two new elementary schools, has new high school football stadium, plus tons of shopping. Other than all those things it's a boring place.

This told me more than I needed to know about the author (if you want to call her that) of the article and the article itself...

Hookers for Hillary is a thing apparently

With Nevada's Democratic caucuses this weekend, a group of sex workers called "Hookers for Hillary" are promoting their favorite presidential candidate.

The women are workers at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, a brothel owned by Dennis Hof.
...
The group also points to the administration of Clinton's husband, Bill, as the "most prosperous time in Bunny Ranch history,"

 :o :o :o  :lol2:

Funny, but I don't recall Bill "vacationing" in Nevada when he was in office...   ???

If it makes you feel better, Jacksonville made the list as the 3rd most exciting city in the state. Of course, the Hardees just closed, there's no Krystals or Chick-fil-a, but they do have The Rocket & Effinas (Italian food) across from the Waffle House. They do have an "exciting" Wal-Mart.

1.Orange Beach

Orange Beach was No. 1?  That used to be my favorite place in Alabama, before it got too exciting.

Didn't another publication not too long ago, state that Orange Beach was the among the worst places to live in Alabama?  :dunno:

Been living down in LA for 13 years now and am just finding out that Fairhope is a "suburb" of Mobile, separated by 20 miles and a bay!   :lol2:

And to be so boring, Orange Beach and Fairhope generate a good chunk of Alabama's vacation tax dollars.

Nick James, RoadSnacks, from NC did it.  The female from al.com just picked it up and posted it.  From his list of other states and the comments, sounds like everyone trashes him from those states.  A masochist.

:lol2: Well, we are referred to as lower Alabama.

Probably one of the more expensive places to live in Alabama.

I have two uncles with houses in or near Orange Beach, since I was a kid.  One has a house on Perdido Bay/Bear Point area.  We would spend summers there, swimming, rafting, fishing, crabbing, walking along the beach at night with lanterns.  The other uncle has a house across the main drag from the beach, on a canal that empties into the tail end of Perdido Bay near the bridge.  He had a 12 foot aluminum boat that we would take shrimping and fishing in Perdido Bay.  A third uncle had a house on the Fish River, a fourth uncle lived in Mobile but had a 35 ft boat we would take shrimping and deep sea fishing, usually off Dauphin Island.  My parents have had a place on the Magnolia River for 25 years, when I was a kid they would park a camper in Orange Beach every summer.  Most of my childhood summers were spent in Baldwin County.  Far from being the worst place to live, it was a dream for me.
