Title: Ten Factors to Suggest Alabama Can Win the 2011 National Championship
Post by: pmull on September 02, 2011, 08:58:39 AM
Just for fun, I sat down and tried to imagine Alabama winning it all again. I'd been thinking this could be a 12-1 team or even 11-2 if the ball bounces wrong with a new QB and games at Penn State, Florida and Mississippi State, and LSU visiting. Why would anyone believe they can win it all with teams like Oklahoma, Oregon, LSU and Florida State surging? Here are the first ten things that I thought of.....

1. Coach Saban's first number one ranked recruiting class in 2008 enters the year with three full seasons of his discipline, experience and teaching. If leadership counts, consider these names from the 2008 class that show up on the depth chart to contribute: Mark Barron, Undra Billingsley, John Michael Boswell, Jerrell Harris, Dont'a Hightower, Chris Jordan, Robert Lester,  Brad Smelley, Damion Square, Courtney Upshaw, and Michael Williams. Can anyone seriously argue that top rankings in recruiting don't matter? Seriously? You think that?
