I would think this is to gain some insight into some better principles of the game. RTR!

His visit wouldn't happen without an invitation.
He's likely providing insight for our defense.

Title: Nick Saban Confirms Chip Kelly Visited Alabama This Week

Interesting.

Quote
Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban confirmed a report that former Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly paid a visit to Tuscaloosa this week. Saban, of course, did not divulge whether Kelly offered any help with the staff’s preparation for Clemson.

“Chip Kelly is a good friend of myself and a lot of coaches on our staff, and he just happened to be in the area and he stopped by and visited with us for a little bit, and not really anything of significance relative to this game,” Saban said.

Could be.  The same thing happened when Saban hired Lane.

Very different situation though.  Lack of success in the NFL is not a job killer for a college coach who had success prior to coaching in the NFL.  Look at Saban.  Kelly coached longer in the NFL than Saban, and arguably had more success, so he could write his own ticket if he wanted to return to the college game.

I'm thinking maybe he was in Nashville considering the Titans job, or he stopped by to speak with Saban for advice about transitioning back to the college game.

"It was good to have Chip come in and just spend some time with him, talk about some different things," Kiffin said. "It was really good to see him. I've always had a good relationship with him, and it's always good to be able to bring some people in to get some ideas from."...

So, it's still a mystery!

After four losses this year they certainly didn't.  They could no longer 'fart with sound'.
