Title: ***Derek Dooley's mom dials down her radio persona*** Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on August 31, 2011, 05:56:17 AM http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110831/COLUMNIST0202/308310087/David-Climer-Dooley-s-mom-dials-down-her-radio-persona
Finebaum said that Derek Dooley told his mother she couldn't be on his show because it hurts recruiting. Quote That’s the story making the rounds about Derek Dooley and his loquacious mother, Barbara. True enough, Tennessee’s coach asked that his mother no longer do her regular weekly gig on Paul Finebaum’s radio show, which is based at WJOX-FM in Birmingham, Ala., but goes global via Sirius/XM. C’mon, Coach, how can you muzzle your mom? The answer: He can’t. And he knows it. “For 43 years, I’ve never been able to get my mom not to do something she wanted to do, so why would it start now?” Derek Dooley said on Tuesday. In short, she’ll still do radio here and there. She’ll make public appearances. She just won’t be locked into a paying, regular segment with Finebaum. I enjoy her input, but it's mostly just reminiscing about the 60s and 70s. There just aren't that many worthy regulars who call in to that show; she'll be missed, if indeed she stops calling.
Title: Re: ***Derek Dooley's mom dials down her radio persona*** Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on August 31, 2011, 06:15:07 AM I would never call that show or any show for that matter. You're right. If it wasn't for the guests during football season, it would not be worth listening to. I listen to him starting with the SEC media days and then stop listening after the BCS championship game in Jan.
5 years ago when PF went to FM, Al.com reported his salary at $350 thousand per year. Now he is on Sirius/XM. No telling what his salary is now. Tomorrow he has his first column in SI.com. If you want to start talking about out-of-control salaries, Michael Vick just signed a $100M contract. I should have spent my time adopting dogs instead of studying for all those years at college. :dunno: Title: Re: ***Derek Dooley's mom dials down her radio persona*** Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on August 31, 2011, 06:33:58 AM I would never call that show or any show for that matter. He owes Tony Dungy for visiting him in prison and then telling Eagles to give him a chance 2 years ago. Did anybody else ever make that kind of cash after serving time for a felony? Title: Re: ***Derek Dooley's mom dials down her radio persona*** Post by: BillBrosky on August 31, 2011, 06:59:35 AM I've always enjoyed Barbara's segment on the PF show on Tuesdays. She's a REAL hoot! I would catch her on the way home, and sometimes sit in my driveway until she was finished.

I caught the end of his segment and he is impressive. I look forward to hearing his comments each week. He represents Alabama as well as anybody I can remember.

I wish they'd repacle "Jim" with an interview by Gaddafi or anybody else. I wish they'd repacle "Jim" with an interview by Gaddafi or anybody else. I have gotten to where I can not stand any of the regular callers. This time of year the interviews are good. They always have someone on just after 5:00 when I am driving home. Gary Danielson yesterday and he is good. Did anybody else ever make that kind of cash after serving time for a felony? Actors Mark Wahlberg and Tim Allen served time before acting. I know Wahlberg has made more than than Vick, probably Allen, too. :D |
