Title: Wednesday Bowl Games
Post by: Catch Prothro on December 23, 2015, 11:42:00 AM
Two games on the schedule today:

Boise State (-8) @ Northern Illinois
Wednesday 12/23/2015 3:30 PM

Georgia Southern @ Bowling Green (-7½)
Wednesday 12/23/2015 7:00 PM

Both games are on ESPN.

Two "B" teams favored by more than a TD, and that line has caused me to go back and forth.  The weather might also be a factor in the Georgia Southern game, with strong storms predicted in Mobile at game time.  (Other bowl is in San Diego).

It does look nasty in the Mobile area but it looks like the rain may have slackened some. I read a couple of tweets that said the field will be VERY wet with more rain expected.

It's not just the rain, I think wind may be a more important factor with Bowling Green's passing game.  Wet field conditions favor the receiver because they know their routes, but when it's windy that impacts the passing game more than light rain.  The wet field probably will impact Georgia Southern's option offense; it makes it harder for the O-Line get out and block on the sweeps.  All in all, the weather had made this a tougher pick.

Boise State jumps out to a quick, 14-0 lead.  It took Boise maybe 10 plays to go 160 yards.

The way the weather is going, the game could be cancelled or be played at 2 am.

Rushing attack against a passing attack. Good contrast. Weather is deteriorating, though.

Ga So just threw a long, 4th down TD pass to take the lead.

Looks like I just lost my DTV signal.  Georgia Southern was leading by 3.  Bowling Green went for it on 4th and 9 inside the GS 20 yard line, when a FG would have tied the game.  Worse, they called a completely lame play, a handoff up the middle.  Turnover on downs.

That's the last I saw.  Keep me updated.

Whoa, TV back on.  GS 37 BG 27.  I don't know what happened, looks like BG is self destructing.  Fumble BG.

I wish I went with my GS pick.   :wall:    I really couldn't decide on this game.

Georgia Southern taking control.  Another TD.  GS pulling away now.

GS 44-27  BG

It's great to see GS leading in their first ever bowl game.   Kudos to them.    #+

I almost picked BG but I was impressed with the GS running game, so I picked them. BG has a great passing attack.

Georgia Southern has 458 yards rushing. Reminds me of the wishbone days of the 1970's. Wow.

I still remembered what GS did at Bryant Denny a few years back to the Tide and then the weather down there yesterday fell in their favor also so I changed my mind to pick them. They do know something about running the option. In the first half I thought the officials were from the SEC due to a few of their calls or no calls.

I did the same, but then changed back to BGSU when they showed the field during the prior game and it didn't look that bad.   :-[

A little advice for all of you; look at my picks, pick opposite of what I picked. You're a surefire winner.
