Title: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: bamaphil on November 20, 2015, 03:06:33 AM One of my fraternity brothers who was a backup kicker for Bama from 2000-2003 is now the OC at Charleston Southern.
Quote “I fell in love with the place,” said Giardina, who has two degrees from Alabama. “I felt immediately it was where I needed to be. It was strictly a God thing for me. He wanted me there. “If they had 150 guys in the locker room, which they did back then, I was probably 149. My name was spelled wrong on my locker for my whole freshman year but I was afraid to tell anybody. I was so happy to be on the team and to wear that jersey.” http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20151118/PC20/151119289 Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: cbbama99 on November 21, 2015, 10:10:56 AM Great story. I have to admit that I do not remember him, but I am always glad to see a Bama guy get a coaching gig somewhere.

Looks like he eats at many of my favorite pacles. :lol2: Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: N.AL-Tider on November 22, 2015, 07:40:48 AM I remember the name but that's about all. He sure didn't earn his money yesterday though, huh? :lol2: Course, that wasn't exactly his fault now, was it? 8)
Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: pmull on November 22, 2015, 10:07:14 AM The ole boy has put on a few pounds since his playing days. He is listed on the 2003 roster as a 5-6 174 PK who wore number 8. He looked a little heavier than 174 yesterday.
The other No. 8 on the team was Freddie Roach. Our starting kicker was Brian Bostick. Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: bamaphil on November 22, 2015, 03:23:38 PM The weight gain is probably largely hereditary. His dad is not a small man.
Funny thing is Gabe used to give me grief about my eating habits. :lol2: Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: bamaphil on November 22, 2015, 03:27:08 PM I remember the name but that's about all. I doubt I'd even remember his name if we weren't friends. Concerning offensive performance, tough to judge him based on how CSU looked against Bama. But as CSU's head coach did point out after the game, CSU had more rushing yards than Leonard Fournette. Title: Re: Former Bama Backup Kicker Coaching Against Bama Saturday Post by: pmull on November 22, 2015, 04:18:13 PM I remember the name but that's about all. They were unbeaten in their league and will start the playoffs next week. This game was all about getting a pay check. I hope they make a deep run in the playoffs. |
