Title: * Alabama's best defense since ___. Hmmm? Post by: Chechem on November 15, 2015, 07:03:52 AM (http://s3media.247sports.com/Uploads/Assets/614/17/4017614.JPG)
We discussed this earlier in the year, but it's time to recognize how good this defense really is. Yesterday Jonathan Allen had 3 sacks, 7 tackles, and a forced fumble. Prescott had only been sacked 13 times all season, and we sacked him 9 (10?) more. THIS DEFENSE IS SPECIAL. I'm ready to say they're better than the 2011 team, and maybe Saban's best ever. If the DBs improve, they should wear the crown as BEST! :worship: :worship: :worship: Title: Re: * Alabama's best defense since ___. Hmmm? Post by: Jamos on November 15, 2015, 07:17:42 AM This team is special no doubt. The defense that I like so well was the defense that ate Miami alive a few years back and this team has the same traits, they don't take any prisoners.

Post by: Catch Prothro on November 15, 2015, 07:48:19 AM Ever since Ragland said, "They can't win if they don't score," it was like a light bulb went off in the D's heads. They have been as dominant as any Bama defense I have ever seen, playing against much better, and more diverse defenses.
I think it also has dawned on Coker that, with this defense, he doesn't have to win games, he just has to not lose. He is taking sacks instead of chunking up INTS. (Yesterday's INT was more like a punt; so I didn't think it was a terrible decision). And the kick return guys are mostly downing the ball in the end zone instead of risking fumble or injury. They made some plays on us occasionally, but when they got into the red zone, our D was lights out. I'm not ready to say they are as good as '92 or 2011, but they are indeed, a very special defense!

I remember their QB was trying to find a fox hole to get in most of the game. Title: Re: * Alabama's best defense since ___. Hmmm? Post by: ricky023 on November 15, 2015, 09:12:34 PM I don't believe we will ever see a defense any better than the 1992 defense. They shut Fla down in the first SECCG and they were good. They were better than Miami was that year, had they beat us they would have the NCG. CNS has put some great defenses on the field but I don't think there was one any big amount better than this team. RTR!
Title: Re: * Alabama's best defense since ___. Hmmm? Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 15, 2015, 09:19:49 PM If we win the NC, then this D might compare to 2011. In the history of Alabama there are countless great defensive teams like:
1961 (surrendered 10 points all year) 1962 (37 points) 1966 (40 points) 1979 (47 points) 1980 (92 points) 1992 Alabama has been built on defense for over 80 years, so it's a challenge to name the "best." |
