Title: LSU - Alabama: How do we win?
Post by: 2Stater on November 03, 2015, 04:12:11 AM
Well, it's time to get serious. The game is upon us. The way I see it, we obviously need to contain Fournette. We won't completely stop him, but we can't let him run loose either. They have a great blocking fullback that we need to be preparing for. That gives LSU an extra dimension. I hope our front 7 can handle the run game.

Harris is an ok passer, not great, so I hope that gives our safeties some latitude to help out in the run game, when need be. I expect Harris to throw deep often enough, but I think our corners are up to the task. When the opportunity arises, they need to hang on to, and not drop the interceptions.

On offense, we need to pound the rock and the O line needs to execute. No early jumps, no holding penalties, no mistakes by the O line or blocking skill players. The run game has to work for us to win, not only for the yardage and field position, but to make the play action passes successful.

Our special teams will need to play their best game of the year. Griffith and Scott have to be full "on".

And finally, no turnovers and no dropped passes. We have to execute better in this game than any we've played to date. We've had 2 weeks to heal and prepare for the best team we play all year. I think we're up to the task!

ROLL TIDE!!!!

Specifics:

This year our safeties are smaller than we've had.  They haven't been as much help with the run game as in previous years, but they'll need to step up.  Hopefully our D-line can do the job, and safeties can play .... safety and blitzes.

LSU has big receivers, but they haven't been used well this year.  Mostly they run shorter patterns than in previous years.  I agree that Harris will prolly throw deep some, maybe on first play (Les-esque), but generally Les plays a plodding offensive scheme.  I expect them to use more screens than we've seen, exposing our DBs against Fournette.

We'll need to run on them, and I think we can.  Henry needed a rest, and he should be quick again.  Hopefully our O-line can play as they did against UGA.

Remember, this is just LSU's 3rd road game (MSU and Syracuse).  Harris isn't tested against a loud crowd.  He's been good lately, but so was the UGA QB before being hurried/sacked/picked.  We'll see if Mr. Harris has the cajones to play big-boy football.

Well Prayer and execution the way it is designed. The intangibles have to go our way. We really need an honest Ref's crew in this game. RTR!

A Tide win will take the all-time series to 50 Bama wins. LSU has 25.  Sounds about right.

Moore has not played since injuring his knee against South Carolina on Oct. 10, but Miles said he “kind of went through every rep” in the past few practices. Sophomore running back Leonard Fournette refers to the former walk-on as his “flashlight,” and Moore has excelled as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner’s lead blocker.
