Title: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: ALTideUp on November 01, 2015, 05:19:09 PM I have just spent a little time looking at the remaining games of the unbeaten and one loss teams. Looking at those teams realistically, I believe that if we win out and beat UF in the SEC championship game, we still may not have a seat at the table. If we win out our loss will be to a team that got beat by Memphis, and our best win will be LSU. Next best win will be UF, now at #11, and then MSU, who is so close to unranked they will become unranked when we beat them.
Iowa has a good chance to run the reg season, and if they lose the Big 10 Championship it will be to a very highly ranked Big10 East opponent. Why would we get in ahead of them even with a loss? Stanford and ND have no one left on their schedules besides each other. If ND wins and has only a 2 pt loss to highly ranked Clemson, why would we get in over them? MSUn has a loss and if the beat OSU, why would we get in over them. If OSU beats a tough UM and a highly ranked MSUn they are in obviously. But even if they lost to the Big10 East Champ or to MSUn, they have one loss to a highly ranked team. Why put us in over them? Then there is the Big12. All of the best teams play each other at the end of the season, so they may all have a loss. But even if they do, that loss will be to a top 10 team, so any of them would have an argument to get in before us. And finally, ponder this: If we beat LSU and they don't lose another game they will be another one loss team whose loss was more impressive than ours. Even with a loss.... Spot 1 - MSUn, tOSU, or Iowa Spot 2 (and maybe 3) - TCU, Baylor, or OKstate Spot 3 - Stanford or ND Spot 4 - LSU My conclusion: there are just not enough losses out there to hope for enough two loss teams for us to jump. I welcome your thoughts. Maybe shut OSU up as a warm-up to another total humiliation of the domers, and rename the mural to "I give up Bama, don't shoot"! Jesus. But alas. We are definitely the best 1 loss team in nation, especially if we beat LSU, that's the key, we have to win out. No 1 loss team will be considered over us. At best, there will be 1 no loss team each from the Big 12 & Big Ten. Stanford looked very bad against a bad Washington State team. No way LSU makes the playoff with a loss to us but still jumps us with our one loss. The Committee has constantly stressed the importance of tough scheduling, that's why undefeated FSU got the #4 spot, even as defending champs. I'm going to assume your computer was hacked by an Aubie because this does not sound like you, anyway. :D  :D Title: Re: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: ALTideUp on November 01, 2015, 06:06:57 PM I have just spent a little time looking at the remaining games of the unbeaten and one loss teams. I am trying to put myself in the place of committee members and ask myself how would I evaluate the one loss. Our one loss sucks pretty bad, and if we are to make it into the SEC champ game, it's gonna have to get even worse. We will have lost to a three loss team. Dang I wish we had that one back. Maybe 57 is saying we can pull the "miss the Championship game and sneak in with a loss" trick. I think we need to be in the SEC Championship game in order for us to make the playoffs. I think the only ones to get in the playoff would be either us, LSU, or FL. I know our SOS is suppose to help us but as the season goes on it doesn't look as strong as it did at the beginning. Since our offense is Jekyll and Hyde we don't put up the beauty points like Baylor and Clemson. It will really determine how the rest of the teams look at the end of the season. If there is chaos then I think it could be possible for us to go without going to ATL. Not sure this made any sense.... :stars: :stars: :stars: Title: Re: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: bama57 on November 01, 2015, 06:29:40 PM we win out and we are in it! Title: Re: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 02, 2015, 03:06:49 AM No need to panic or worry at this point. When the selection committee releases their initial rankings on Tuesday we will know where we stand. For example, if we end up at #7 with 3 teams ahead of us guaranteed to lose a game, then we will be in if we take care of our business.
No way LSU loses to us in November and gets in ahead of us with each of us only having 1 loss. The result of the head to head would dictate that we would be ahead of them. Don't forget that when you lose is much more important than who you lose to. OSU was #16 in the initial rankings last year and they climbed 12 spots. They had a horrible loss to Va Tech but it was early in the season. Title: Re: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: bamaphil on November 02, 2015, 04:25:42 AM Coach Saban is not going to be happy with us. There's a game against LSU this weekend. Right now, that's all that matters.

First things first. BEAT THE HELL OUT OF LSU (and we're in)! Title: Re: I am afraid we have no chance at the playoff this year Post by: pmull on November 02, 2015, 06:41:17 AM We need to win out period. We can not control what Ole Miss does but we need them to lose. If we only have one loss with a conference championship we will get in. One loss without a championship and that opens the door to Notre Dame & Stanford to slip ahead of us. The committee has made it clear they put an emphasis on conference championships.

Media, Media and Media and when we beat LSU we have nobody to stop us but only (Alabama). Even with power of LSU I think we win this game on our defense and passing game. I think, yes, I think #13 ArDarius Stewart will be a big part of our passing game. I look for them to jam 7 and 8 men at the LOS they will slow way down our run game. After all is said and done I see us maybe wining by one point in the whole scheme. This year there is only 2 great teams in the SEC and one of them will lose Sat. Nite. RTR! |
