Just saw this over at Woolly. It's time. Recruits can't count on him being there for their duration. He will leave a good legacy at Va Tech.

Plus, he's not winning that much anymore. He's lost 5 games or more each season in the last 4 years. The problem is, they will struggle to find a coach of such previous ability but will expect to get a Saban quality coach. That's fandom-think.

Va Tech is still considered a pretty high profile program IMO, and normally could get a pretty high profile coach. But with all the vacancies in college football out there, the pickins may be slim for them.

I really think they may chose Bud Foster, long time DC there.

Actually may be a good pick.

It's funny you say that because I was just thinking yesterday that it was a shame that Foster had not yet gotten a HC job. I wonder if there is some unannounced "coach in waiting" plan in pacle for him.

I always thought he ran a good program and got a lot out of his players.  Every time you played VT you had to be weary of their special teams.

The last of the era of great college football coaches. It is officially a new breed now. I don't put David Cutcliff in that group because he has not been a great head coach for a long period. He is a great QB and offensive coach though. God Bless Coach Frank Beamer. RTR!

I agree, ricky. You don't see too many humble, gentlemanly coaches like Frank Beamer any more.

Here...Here!!

Bud Foster would indeed be a good pick.  He might be a transitional hire though, i.e. 5 - 6 years.  Always hard to follow/succeed a beloved coach.

Unfortunately, true. This is the year I think Kirby goes. Kiffin is a given.

I'll add my regards. Did it the right way for a long time. Well done Coach.

The college football world won't be the same without Beamer Ball.

Where would Kirby go? Kiffin could go to Miami, but not sure how damaged a good he is right now for HC. Still a lot of bad karma out there on him.

Possible vacancies:
