Pearl and company get show cause. It has not been a good day to be a Vile fan. I am sorry to hear about Pat Summit. She is a class act.

Pearl gets multiple year show cause penalty and 3 former assistants get one year show cause penalty. How does it affect the basketball program?

It means the coach can not be hired by another NCAA school during that time.

Quote
In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an order saying that a coach involved in major rules violations at a university's athletic program may not be hired by any other NCAA member institutions without permission from the Infractions Committee for a set period of time. If a university seeks to hire such a coach, they must "show cause" as to why they should not be penalized for hiring him. Most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with a show-cause penalty in effect; hence the show-cause order effectively blacklists him from the collegiate coaching ranks for the duration of the penalty, and many coaches who are given such a penalty never coach again, even after the expiration of the penalty. The penalty is intended to follow a coach for violations that he had a role in committing.

Just glad to see the dirty SOB get his. Maybe they will get hammered by the NCAA. I do think there may be a new reason to believe that the cheaters will get hit with real penalties. Look out Miami.

Thanks for the heads up on the info.

Quote
"Pearl's problem began with allegations of an impermissble contact with a recruit but escalated when he lied to the NCAA about it."

I read somewhere that Pearl went in front of NCAA and lied to them with a UT lawyer present. The lawyer let people know that Pearl was lying, how stupid can you be.
