Title: Downfield rule to be discussed Post by: Jamos on September 23, 2015, 09:18:14 PM The rule is simple. When an offensive team fakes the run and then chooses to pass, no offensive lineman can be more than 3 yards down the field. Now, there is some wiggle room if the offensive lineman is “engaged” or blocking a defender. But for the most part, if an offensive lineman is more than 3 yards down the field on a passing play, it is supposed to be a penalty for an illegal man downfield.
