Title: Clowney said he fell asleep during Saban visit
Post by: cbbama99 on July 10, 2015, 01:40:50 PM
Two things:

1. I guess JC was happier with mediocrity and not greatness.
2. Considering the English used by him, I would guess that his Indian name would be "Not-Brain-Surgeon"

Well he didn't like competition and playing for championships with the big boys. He was mediocre when he came and he was almost mediocre when he went. RTR!

Other than the monster play against Michigan, he was not the player most expected, maybe because of injuries. Having said that, he was still better than most. He never really considered coming to Bama. He was a home boy that wasn't going far from his Mama. He was SC bound, all the way.

Clowney record:

2011  11-2 2nd East  Won Capital One Bowl   61,151 attendance
2012  11-2 3rd East  Won Outback               54,527 attendance
2013  11-2 2nd East  Capital One                 56,621 attendance

Saban record:

2011  12-1 BCS National Championship   Super Dome   78,237 attendance
2012  13-1 SEC Champion  BCS National Championship  Miami   80,120 attendance
2013  11-2 # 7 in nation  tied for 1st West   Sugar Bowl   101,821 attendance

No doubt Clowney really "achieved" a lot at S. Carolina. No BCS  bowls, no division championships, no SEC championship. Yep, quite impressive.

Clowney was SEC Freshman of the Year. He was was First Team All-American in his Sophomore and Junior years. He was SEC Defensive Player of the Year. After his Junior year he was selected No. 1 in the NFL draft an got a huge contract with $22M of it guaranteed. Poor kid did not accomplish anything at South Carolina.

Yep, his efforts really propelled his team to great heights, but for him it was never about we, it was about me.

USCe had three straight 11-2 seasons with Clowney. USCe's history says they should do much better than that? USCe was ranked in the Top 10 in the final polls all three seasons. They were # 4 in 2013.
