In 2012, he became the third Alabama player to become a two-time consensus All-American. In 2011, he won the Outland Trophy as the nation's best interior lineman. In 2012, he won the Rimington Trophy as the nation's best center. In 2012, he also won the William C. Campbell Trophy, an award sometimes called the "Academic Heisman."
