Title: Re: "Live updates: Alabama vs. Mercer baseball in Huntsville" Post by: 2Stater on May 13, 2015, 05:56:15 AM Quote Junior right-hander Will Carter came out of the bullpen for the first time this season and fanned nine in five innings as the Crimson Tide beat Mercer 5-3 tonight at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville. Quote CHANCE VINCENT UPDATE: Alabama's starting first baseman Chance Vincent was hospitalized after colliding with Hughston during a game at Auburn last Saturday. "It's a separated shoulder," Gaspard said. "The latest that we got today is that it's a Grade 2. There won't be any surgery involved. We'll know more tomorrow as far as a timetable. We're hoping for the best. Whether he returns this season or not, we just don't know yet." Congrats to the baseball team! Glad to know that Vincent's injury was not anything worse. Title: Re: "Live updates: Alabama vs. Mercer baseball in Huntsville" Post by: pmull on May 13, 2015, 08:25:57 AM Important win. We now have won 6 straight and are guaranteed a winning record for the year. We are 29-24 with 3 games to play plus the SEC Tournament.
We are moving to the bubble for a NCAA bid. We still have work to do. Our record of 29-24 is not good but it meets the requirement of having a winning record. Our RPI is 47. The lowest RPI for an SEC at large team in the past is 48. We are 11-16 in SEC play. We must have one win but really need two against Vandy to help our RPI and improve our SEC record. If we do well against Vandy we still need one or two wins in the SEC Tournament. It is not going to be easy. The good news is the team is not giving up. We are on a 6 game winning streak and just swept the barn in Auburn. No one thought we would win the barn series much less get the sweep. We play Vandy at home (Hoover). We will be playing for our post season live. Vandy could be resting players/pitchers with the short turnaround with their first SEC Tournament game on Wednesday. It is a long shot but maybe we are playing our best ball of the year. |
