Title: Thug Update: Lawrence Phillips, Former Nebraska RB Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 13, 2015, 08:20:58 PM Well, no big surprise if you have followed this loser's life story. Tom Osbourne sold his soul for this punk to play in the NC game & help Nebraska win it.
Quote Former first-round NFL pick and Nebraska star running back Lawrence Phillips is suspected of murdering his prison cellmate at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano, Calif., according to a report. Quote Phillips slipped to No. 6 overall in the ’95 NFL draft because of his criminal past, but the Rams still took him. They released him during his second season. A Jameis Winston primer? http://www.ibtimes.com/lawrence-phillips-prison-murder-ex-nfl-running-back-accused-killing-cellmate-1880560 :dog: Title: Re: Thug Update: Lawrence Phillips, Former Nebraska RB Post by: ricky023 on April 13, 2015, 10:13:39 PM Yes sir but Winston will never go to jail cause he has to many people pulling out of all his crooked dealings. Sorry but that is the opinion I have formed. RTR!

I lived in Nebraska when he played college ball there. He was good but he was a bad combination of 1/2 thug and 1/2 mental patient. Title: Re: Thug Update: Lawrence Phillips, Former Nebraska RB Post by: ricky023 on April 14, 2015, 02:23:46 PM You know I always thought of Tom Osborne as an example but with what he put up with to win those NC's at Nebraska and even back to back titles when rozier was there I believe he surprised me. RTR!

He had never won a NC and he was determined to win it in 1995. He sold his soul and reputation for this scumbag. Hope it was worth it to him looking back. Now you all know why I was so strongly opposed to Jonathan Taylor.
Quote Phillips was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Kate McEwen, a basketball player for the Nebraska women's team and was subsequently suspended by head coach Tom Osborne. The case became a source of controversy and media attention, with the perception arising that Osborne was coddling a star player by not kicking Phillips off the team permanently. Osborne walked out on a press conference when asked "If one of your players had roughed up a member of your family and had dragged her down a flight of steps, would you have reinstated that player to the team?"[6] Outraged Nebraska faculty proposed that any student convicted of a violent crime be prohibited from representing the university on the football field.[7] Osborne defended the decision, saying that abandoning Phillips might do more harm than good, stating the best way to help Phillips was within the structured environment of the football program.[citation needed][8] Osborne reinstated Phillips for the Iowa State game,[9] although touted freshman Ahman Green continued to start. Phillips also played against Kansas and Oklahoma. Despite pressure from the national media, Osborne named Phillips the starter for the Fiesta Bowl, which pitted No. 1 Nebraska against No. 2 Florida for the national championship. In the game, Phillips rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries and scored a touchdown on a 16-yard reception in the Cornhuskers' 62-24 victory. The performance boosted Phillips's draft stock. With Osborne's encouragement, he decided to turn pro a year early. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Phillips Title: Re: Thug Update: Lawrence Phillips, Former Nebraska RB Post by: ricky023 on April 14, 2015, 03:19:33 PM This is why I have zero respect for Coach Osbourne. Thanks for the link it does explain how Tom Osborne did what he did cause without Phillips I don't believe Nebraska beats Fla. that year. RTR!
