Title: SIAP: Alabama's Most Expensive Homes. Photos make you say 'wow'
Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on July 31, 2011, 12:34:00 PM
I liked house #1 and house # 2 in Point Clear Alabama on Mobile Bay in Baldwin County. If I was Julio I would buy one. Put mama and family in it.

When you're young you need more bedrooms. When you are old like me you need more bathrooms.

The waterfront home of David J. Cooper Sr. was built on more than 2½ acres on the prestigious boardwalk on Mobile Bay, which has some of the highest property values in south Alabama, according to Realtors.

The traditional-style Southern bay house features two stories of porches that stretch across the entire house, and a cupola, or lookout, on the third story.

Cooper, vice chairman of Cooper/T. Smith Corp., also has Cooper Restaurants, a company that owns Ruth's Chris Steak House in Mobile's Midtown area, Felix's Fish Camp and Bluegill Restaurant, both on the Causeway crossing the bay.

Owner: David J. Cooper Sr., vice chairman of Cooper/T. Smith Corp., a stevedoring and maritime services company in Mobile
Address: Scenic U.S. 98, Point Clear
Property tax valuation: $5.084 million
Size: 13,211 square feet
Build date: 2007

Et cetera: Purvis is known for his custom woodwork, and the house features lots of rare wood species, according to Craig Roberts, a Mobile-based architect, who added that "the interior finishes in the house are incredible."

The family pets have a custom dog kennel on the ground floor with an antique tub for dog bathing.

You'd think for $3-5mil you could build an attractive home.  Some of those were not so easy on the eyes.

And not a double-wide in the bunch!

That's because they did not travel to Lee County for the story.

That's right.  I thought about it when I saw this one.  I remember seeing a picture of it with, I think a helicopter there too.  I wonder what happened to it?  Did he get to keep it?
