Title: Alabama will be missing key players for game with Mississippi State
Post by: Jamos on February 10, 2015, 02:40:49 PM
The University of Alabama basketball team will take the short trip down U.S. Highway 82 to face Mississippi State on Monday night at 8 p.m. with a couple of extra seats on the bus.

That might be stretching a metaphor, but the Crimson Tide is fighting an injury bug that could keep as many as three key players out of action for tonight's game with the Bulldogs.

After the loss at LSU last Saturday, Bama's tournament hopes took a big hit. The only thing I see possible for Bama now would be the NIT Tournament and I'm not so sure Bama would have any interest in being a part of it. If Bama could win out there might be an outside shot at the NCAA Tournament but I'm not very optimistic that could ever happen with all of the injuries on the team right now. Anyway, I'll be pulling for them tonight and maybe they can get a road win. RTR!!

Yeah, MSU is awful, but with us missing Tarrant, Obasohan, & Kessens & being on the road, nothing is a sure thing. This game could be a real struggle & everyone needs to stay out of foul trouble. It will be interesting to see how Devin Mitchell performs at guard. Big games by Levi, Cooper, & Hale are needed.

Tide players continue to be hesitant in taking shots. Frustrating!

55-51 Tide Wins   Final

Ugly, ugly game & win, especially at the end.
Translation:  Bama nearly blew an 8 point lead in the final minute, unable to get the ball in bounds.

But a win is a win.  A road win in the SEC, missing the team's best shooter and a second guard, is nothing to sneeze at.  Congrats to the players on the court tonight.

LSU nearly beat Kentucky.  They had an opportunity to at least tie the game at the end, with 16 seconds left, but a long pass slightly overthrew a wide open player down the court, and he had to pass the ball back instead of making an easy layup.  LSU could't find a quality shot after that.

Funny but very accurate.

I was worried for a while there that it might turn into another "Miracle Minute" game.*

* In 2001, Duke was down by 10 points to Maryland with 60 seconds left. They stole a few inbounds passes, hit 3s, and won the game.

Well, I decided to watch the game. What a slop-fest. The announcers called it right, somewhere in the first half; "Both teams are offensively challenged". He was just being nice. Very glad Bama won, but it was another painful game to watch.

That's the best description I have heard for the Tide game & season in general.

Wins on the road are hard to get especially in league play. It was ugly but it was a win and we need wins anyway we can get them. I hope we can build a little momentum. We have games coming up against Vandy, @ Auburn, UGA, USC, and @ Vandy. All of those games are winnable.

Shannon Hale is starting to play like we hoped he would this year. If we can get Tarrant back we are not an easy game for anyone left on our schedule.

As of today our RPI is 61. That is respectable but not good enough for an NCAA bid. We just need to win regardless of how ugly it may be.
