Title: Re: Men's Basketball Begins Road Stretch at Tennessee Today 1 p.m. (SEC Network) Post by: pmull on January 10, 2015, 09:01:31 AM We need to win some road games this season and that has been hard for us in recent years. It will not be easy. UT is 9-4 with some quality wins and no bad losses. Their RPI is 61. A win in Knoxville today will be good for the teams confidence and look good on our NCAA resume.
We go to Columbia next to play USCe. That is also a big road game. Both games are winnable but we need no worse than a split of these two games. Title: Re: Men's Basketball Begins Road Stretch at Tennessee Today 1 p.m. (SEC Network) Post by: pmull on January 10, 2015, 03:21:26 PM Alabama finally got a road win and it was a SEC road win.
It was an ugly low scoring game but we played outstanding defense. UT took the lead during the middle of the second half and we could have let the game slip away. Instead we help UT to 2 points in the final 12 minutes and built a comfortable lead. UT had a good crowd and we kept them quite all game. It seems like every game we have different players step up with a good game. Today Jimmie Taylor scored 13, Tarrant 14 and Cooper 17 today. We out rebounded UT 34-29. We had 15 assists. This was a good team road win that should build confidence. We have another road game Tuesday at South Carolina. Title: Re: Men's Basketball Begins Road Stretch at Tennessee Today 1 p.m. (SEC Network) Post by: pmull on January 10, 2015, 03:33:30 PM I just saw a post game interview with CAG. He was disappointed we did not shoot any free throws in the first half. He stressed at halftime that we need to be more aggressive and get to the line. We were 10-12 in the 2nd half.
CAG seems to really like this team. He said they all like each other enjoy playing together. He also said they have bought in to what the coaching staff has asked them to do. He thinks we still have a lot of room for improvement and will get better as the season goes along. We play USC next and let's see how things go before we start thinking of celebrating. If we lose, will the same folks admit they are wrong. I doubt it. I hope we can continue to win, especially on the road, but I don't have crimson-colored glasses on, either. The season has a ways to go. A&M has an RPI of 57 and UT 67. We are now 27 good for third best in a much improved SEC only behind UK 1 and Arkansas 12. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/groupId/23 I checked it last night but it was not updated. Thanks for the info. Title: Re: Men's Basketball Begins Road Stretch at Tennessee Today 1 p.m. (SEC Network) Post by: roll tide roll on January 12, 2015, 10:15:26 AM I don't care who the team is or how bad. An SEC win on the road by 18 is huge! Look at Kentucky, they went to OT with Ole Miss at home and double OT with A&M on the road. I would bet money that we win several more on the road. I'm starting to get stoked about this team. I agree. This team seems to be coming together very well in time for SEC play. I expect us to win both these games, TN and SC, then beat KY in Tuscaloosa. This may sound crazy, but I think we have a better chance of beating UK at our place. Just a feeling I have. Big, noisy crowd, fired up team, I think we can do it. I think UK is very beatable. They have looked out of sync as a team in several of their games, but they have also soundly thrashed several quality opponents. BAMA is playing with great defensive pressure. I am concerned about playing USCe in Columbia with them coming off of a 2 game skid. We are not ranked but we are trending in the right direction.
We have two big games this week. Tuesday night on the road at South Carolina and at home against # 1 Kentucky. The Kentucky game is a sell out. Winning both of these games is possible but we need to at least get a split. They are leading Arkansas right now by 5 with less than 15 minutes to go.
