There was a post on tiger droppings one time from someone claiming to know him personally, a neighbor or something. He said they chose Oregon over Auburn because Auburn tried to buy him. This was a long time before the "as the plains burn" thread ever started. I guess the truth is coming out now. Maybe he chose Oregon because they made the best offer.
